Hi All,
Since the last posting actually showed a picture, this is the next PM based United (Under Construction) which will have one of Randy Smith's great new PA75's on a pipe in it.
Looking forward to seeing how a PM works with a pipe. We'll see.

I think you should name the plane "Maneuvering Overcast".
Are you sure no one will open that door and crush that wing on the floor?.

Yes I'm sure, that's a closet, and only I could screw it up. Actually since that picture was taken, that's a Walter Umland Excalibur under construction and since has been put up on the wall so even I can't screw it up.

Hello Mike and Steve,
To answer both your questions the new paint job will be of a "Patriotic" nature probably using a US Flag motif with "Gold Leaf" lettering. I'm going to try to keep this one light mike and shooting for the weight of at least the New Patternmaster which is about 73.5 ounces.
For Steve, I drew a couple of horizontal lines and used a 30 degree angle and spaced some vertical lines. Then I got out the old Dremel and one of those old barrel cutters, held on real tight and started to grind them out. It wasn't easy especially since this has 1/16 inch ply doublers. This ship had a "Big Jim" nose construction since it was going to have a ST 60 in it.
I had to add a 1/2 inch of balsa to the bottom for the pipe depth and redo the cowl fit since that was already carved. Based on the work, I probably wouldn't use that many exhaust slots ever again. I actually closed up three in the rear section and widened the ones you see in the photo.
I've attached a picture of the bottom, which I just took to show you the pipe tunnel, gear and cowl scoops. Need to carbon veil the flaps, fuse and rudder after a few more coats of dope.
On the current Silver PM I used Automotive Primer which I'll use again because I like the result. You just have to make sure you sand most of it off otherwise I'll have another 85 ouncer like the Orange United. I always used the good old talc and dope in the past.
