New propeller (at least to me) brand and Model Aircraft Show
« on: January 19, 2007, 01:53:41 PM »
Last Saturday I went to the model airplane show in Ontario California and came across a booth selling a brand of props I had never seen before.  They are call XOAR, I bought a couple to give them a try.  I was just wondering if anybody used them and what their impression is.  The quality looks good and they have quite a variety of sizes.

Also while at the show I had the chance to meet Bob Hunt at our clubs booth.  (Kights of the Round Circle) Bob stopped by to see some friends.  All I can say about this man is what a gentleman, he took to the time to talk about electric control line.  He discussed a bunch of new stuff being tested for electric, the future is very exiting and he discussed the world championships.  If the opportunity ever comes up for you to me and talk to Bob I highly recommend it, he is a real plus for our hobby.

Hi Andy,

What material are the props made from?  Only 2 bladers or do they have "multiblades"?

I have not seen nor heard of them.

As to Mr. Robin Hunt, I am glad to be able to call him "Friend".  y1

Googled 'em up for ya, Bill. Looks like they make a lot of wood props, but also some glass reinforced nylon.

PJG Type A Nylon
Have used the 7, 8, 9 and 10's. No complaints, pitch checks are very close.
Have an 11 and a 12 , yet to try.
Pitch selection is limited for our (stunt) use, but what we can use appears okay.
Note: Only 12 flights total, to date.

Rich,
Only local "dealer" I know of, in Florida, is Bob's Hobby Center, Orlando.
Steve Thomas, the owner, may be of help.
www.bobshobbyCenter.com

Also, the XOAR site has a "Contact Us" tab for dealer info.

I guess I am not the only person who has never heard of them.  Again just looking at the props the quality look very good.  On their web site they mention that they make props for para sail powered aircraft.  It is worth the effort to check the site and see their process for producing a prop.  I look forward to trying mine out, although getting more could be problematic.
