I'm a veteran, but why do you omit our first responders?  They are the ones keeping us safe every day - and virtually all are working today.

I salute anyone working in public service, health care or education.  They are all needed and hugely important.

Steve, I didn't intentionally leave out the first responders, as you are right in that they keep us safe here on the home front, but the 4th of July is independence day, independent form other nations control, and the Military does this all around the world, daily..
