Has anyone had the opportunity to check out the new BMJR kit of Jack Sheeks' Me 109? Wood, hardware, plans?
Great looking design, just wondering about the kit...Thanks!
-
My friend and Master Builder of over 50 years, Keith, bought one at the Paducah contest and now has it ready for covering. He said it was a great kit and every thing fit together perfectly. He built it as prescribed by BMJR and the wing came out laser straight. With tank and engine mounted and before the wing was covered it weighed 31 ounces. Keith is powering his with a Fox .35, should a good combination right around 40 ounces. I also have a kit, but I already have too many projects in the works to start on it yet, but I will build it soon, should make a really nice N-30 plane!! I should be able to get a few photos from Keith and hopefully post them soon.

Thanks Mike, Brodak has that info also and Brodaks shipping is cheaper. Would like to see what hardware is included etc just to know what else to get.

Here are the pics I promised a few days ago. Keith has only been working on this for about 3 weeks, and as seen in the photos has added a few scale details. His craftsmanship is exceptional, and his finishes are flawless, literally. Can't wait to see this one finished and in the air with a trail of exhaust smoke from the Fox .35.

Thanks for the pictures !!! y1 y1 My kit should arrive tomorrow and I will add to the pictures as soon as I get it. When I get around to building it will have a Brodak 40 for power..

I don't know if it was Keith's or Brian's, still in skeletal form when I saw it, but I thought it was a Nobler before I asked. Even in the bones, it was a great looking plane. I was afraid someone was going to accidentally step on it or kick it, sitting in the grass by itself. I need to buy something from Brian, his products look great, and being a second(at least) generation model maker, he knows how to produce fine kits.

Brian had a ME109 at joe Nall in May of this year that was framed up, but not covered , nice looking wood and well thought out laser cutting.
A fox 35,, os 35s or Brodak 40 will fit and work well with this model .
A lot of the original design models during that time frame were based on the competitive models of the Nationals ... ,.... Just like today
Jack sheeks. was real happy with the model at brodak's . Brian Malin had planned to fly it at Brodak's , but had some engine trouble

I received my kit today, I was supprised at the small box size compared to Brodak. The kit included the normal hardware but the lead outs were solid and no adjustable lead out shown. It did come with main wheels, tail wheel,c/a hinges,3" B/C,1/4 0z weights and bunches of laser cut sheets. Plans are 2 sheets full size wing and fuse.
-
I hope you do not plan on using the CA hinges, they are not a good fit on a control line model for many reasons
-
Since Brodak is sold out of the kit now, is the RSM kit pretty much the same?
-
You can order dirrect from BMJR, kit price is the same only difference might be the shipping charges.
-
My kit arrived, wood looks excellent, nice hardware package! Looking forward to the build.

Keith's ME-109 is ready for primer. As seen in the photos he added scale exhaust stacks. At this pace it should be ready to fly in about 2 weeks!!

I believe the RSM ME-109 is Charles Mackey's version.

Keith's '109 looks AWESOME! Keith who though?

Keith Palmer's BMJR ME-109 is finished, and its outrageous!! It weighs just under 40 ounces and has unbelievable detail for a stunt plane. He couldn't get the Fox .35 to run well yesterday so no maiden flight, but if he gets it sorted out, we will fly tomorrow, and he plans to compete with it this weekend at Huntersville. Enjoy the pics of a really nice plane.

Cannot wait to see it, Keith"s models are flawless ..

Under 40 oz., that's incredible.
Is Keith an Intermediate flyer? That'll make 5 of us that I know of so far. Wayne, Jim Mynes, Mike Londke, Keith, and Me. He sure loves his Foxes, doesn't he.

It does. He'd never flown it until this weekend's contest. He came in 5th out of 9, edging me out by 6 points in Intermediate. I think he flew it in Nostalgia over the pavement on Saturday. We flew Int. over the grass.

VERY NICE! I like the treatment for the AMA number too, great idea for a camo model. y1
