New Life for Some Old Planes
« on: February 15, 2017, 10:41:28 AM »
I got a call from retired combat/stunt flyer Mack Henry the other day. I had bought some planes and engines from him 2 years ago and helped him sell a bunch of stuff on EBay and through the forums. He recently moved into his new home and had to empty his old shop before the new owners take possession. He basically said Mike it's all got to go and I don't really want to put it in the trash so come get it. He loaded me up with everything imaginable from a lifetime in the hobby. Props, lines, handles, tools, covering, plugs, tanks, planes, and a huge supply of balsa, ply, and basswood. Even a few engines. There is a Bi-slob for Sam and a bunch of old slow combat planes. They will make great beaters for Sam to bash around. I'm really overwhelmed by the amount of stuff and it will take some time to go through it and organize it. I could tell that Mack was sad that his modeling days were at an end but he was happy the planes were going to Sam. He just wanted to see his stuff used and not thrown away. Thanks Mack!

That is great that he found you two.  I'm sure Sam will give them a work out.   H^^

I had the pleasure of meeting Mack back a while, had a nephew going to Nashville Auto Diesel college and went to see him, met Mack  and a couple of the other fliers up there.
How is he doing and what does he plan to do with his spare time?

Mack is one neat dude, I wish him well.  It's been many years since I last saw him.

That's awesome Mike, I only met Mack one time that he flew at our field , what a swell guy!! This is so funny because I was at a swap meet this weekend and met a fellow that used to fly control line combat and the only person he asked if I knew was Mack Henry.

He's doing well although he had a stroke a few years back. He's spending time with his kids and grandkids and travelling a bit.
