New Legacy
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:08:28 PM »
First time I posted this. It is my take on Alan Brickhaus/Brodak's Legacy design. It was finished in September. For now power is an Evo NX 60, set up by Byron Barker. I thought that an appropriate choice since Byron and Allen  were close friends. Weight is 66 ounces, finish is sig dope. Kit is a good value and the plane flies great!  8)

Nice job Pete, as usual! Did you have this one at the Meet n Meat? I think I have seen it in person. Your paint schemes identify the model instantly as yours, like hearing the first three notes of anything from Stevie Ray Vaughan or Keith Richards, you know who it is. This kinda inspires me to pull out my Brodak Legacy kit and get going on it.

Your Legacy looks great.  Now a good coach, lots of practice and you will get there.    H^^

Very nice....and they fly real well, too! Seems to me the wing and numbers are very similar to a Genesis 46ish?

Couldn't say as the outlines of the wing and stab were unchanged from the kit. The shape of the vert stab was changed and includes a ground adjustable rudder. Larger canopy too, and redesigned cowl. Some wood replaced but the kit wood was pretty good for the most part.
Although the plans shows a tunnel for tuned pipe installation I think it is more suitable, weight and balance wise, for a standard muffled engine. It has also been flown with a rear-exhaust Enya 61 CX but there were some run issues. I hope to revisit that set up early next flying season.  8)

Really nice looking Legacy Pete.  What colors of paint did you use? The red color is so rich looking and full of depth.

Blessings,

Thanks Charles, good to hear from you. Red is Sig "Tennessee Red" It has a slight burgundy tint to it but really "pops" when sprayed over white.  8)

Tennessee Red was Bob Gieseke's red of choice. Maybe one of the ingredients is good mojo!

That's good to know since I can use all the good mojo I can get in the stunt circle. If it works out I may paint my next Sport Goodyear racer with the same color! 8)
