Title: New Kid on the Block
Post by: Brian Massey on November 19, 2014, 02:08:27 PM
Meet Henry! Henry is an 8 year old who loves airplanes. His family attends Peoples Church, (they sponsor our club hence the name "PC Flyers") and has seen us flying. He asked his family if they could stop and watch. Several of our member approached them, one thing lead to another and now just a few weeks later he's flying.

Thanks to Doss Porter, our resident Flight Instructor. Doss has taken Henry under his wing and been teaching him. Yesterday Henry did his first flight on a "big" plane. Doss assisted on the take off, Henry was in complete control the rest of the way, including the landing. He did extremely well! Henry's dad is being very supportive and will be flying with us too.

On Henry's second flight, he did a loop! He looped and recovered into straight and level flight with no bobbles. We were all stunned. After landing, he admitted he didn't mean to do it.  ;D  But he did it without appearing nervous, or scared.

Let's hope we can get more "young blood" into the sport.

Brian

That is right good to see another young 'un on the handle and his Dad getting into it to boot.
A bright spot in our hobby.

That is great the young man has taken an interest in the flying of model planes.   If they are not interested or their parents too, no amount of talking will get them flying.  Thanks for the tale and keep him flying.
