You're right, Bill.  Don't know why!  It is a good flying built up fuselage, nonflap, 35 size model.  Maybe because it's not OTS legal, and being a Classic model it doesn't have flaps so I guess the interest as a contest plane isn't there.

I like the off beat planes, myself, and many turn out to be good flying planes!

I saw Larry Scarinzi fly this ship at the last Perth Amboy MAC contest around 1962. Larry had a Johnson 35S in it and used Tornado plasticote prop. It flew very crisp corners and in Larry's hands was an excellent ship.

It's always tough to follow Hunt, but Bob, do you remember the afternoon we were haning out in your garage swapping "Larry Lies" and you decided that I was such a "Scarzoonie" fan you gave me a filefolder of Larry plans. No doubt from FM. Anyway, somewhere in the depths of my plan drawer I have a bunch of original pencil plans drawn by hisself. Included is the 'Ghost plan, the "killer" and others!

Has it been that many years ago?  I used to read about all the guys/gls flying back then and drool all over the articles/plans.  My first NATS at Grand Prairie NAS in 64 was when I first met Larry.   He was wiping down or polishing his Blue Angel.

     MAN I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!! This is what I wish we could see more of on these forums, more photos, stories and history before it's all lost. Bob, you have some real treasures here, and i'll bet the photos put into an album or on a disc would be popular. Consider me the first order if you ever do it. I  got to meet and talk at length with your dad at one of my early VSC trips and he was a grand guy. lary is one of the all time great characters of stunt and combat also and the Grey Ghost is on my someday-to- build list. Just neat stuff all around.

I met George and his beautiful brand new bride years ago....(1962)and I spend many many hours at his home  work shop in Lakewood where we built many many models in HIS AMAZINGLY APPOINTED WORKSHOP--------n' come to think about it...George Lieb's shop just might possibly COME PRETTY CLOSE TO RIVALIN' YOUR WORLD CLASS MODEL WORKSHOP! (NOT!)

In those lean mean  daze-days....when I was very young and single and always out of $$$ George and his beloved would often invite me over for dinner...before George and I would head down to the workshop.
George and I were long long time friends to both Carol and after he moved and we moved...I heard that his beloved had passed.
Folks that know George.....always knew just how DAMNED LUCKY IN LOVE HE WAS! Their love was truly a testament and he was sooooooooooo proud of her and her of him.
We used to get a Christmas card every year from them.
 Bob..Thanks for posting these amazing photos...and sharing your Dads stories about his photography.
Anyone know where George is today???
George was truly a very complicated Genius...and  one of the most gifted and artistic model makers that I have ever met in this lifetime who was always willing to share his knowledge about modeling---as well as many many other interests.

Thanks for posting the old tyme photos....there's nothing like them.  Keep them coming.  And yes, if you do get to load them on a CD, I'll gladly take a copy.

My all time favorite stunt airplane is the Demeco "StuntWagon", and I was pleased to see one in your post....what an interesting construction and paint job this fellow has done on his "Wagon".   Now this photo had to be taken some 40 to 50+ years ago, and will you please note, he has a TAB on the outer wing tip.   And here I thought this *wing tab* idea was something modern.   I guess not.  I know the StuntWagon had a vertical CG problem because it was a shoulder wing design, and maybe that wing tab is just what one needs.  The CG being lower than the lead-outs would cause the outer wing to be high, and it does appear that his wing tab is in an upward position, in an effort to push that outer wing back down.

Up until about two or three years ago, a rivalry existed In Sport Goodyear (aka Scale Class II) Racing with the likes of Melvin Schuette/Kevin Seaton, Phil Dunlap/Dale Gleason, MarvinDenny/Dave Denny and George Lieb/Mike Talman and others in and around Wichita and Topeka. George took this very seriously and always had a fast ship to enter. He was often the guy to beat, he and Mike Talman made a good team.   I haven't seen George for a while.    dg

George Lieb still lives in Ralston (a suburb of Omaha).   I am 99% sure he is in the phone book and would love a call from old friends.    He still makes it to monthly model meetings but I havent seen him fly for a year or two.    He is a good friend and knows more about model planes than I will ever!    Interesting soul... just dont get him started on what is wrong with current politics if you dont have an unlimited long distance plan.    Let him know I pointed you his way if you call.
