New group get together

The new (old) controline flyers had their first formal get together for the group.  Had flyers from Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Got together in the front yard of one of the flyers. His front yard is big enough for two and maybe three circles. Had a great time and a varied bunch of models. Had 5 people who actually flew and about that many spectators. Five may not seem like very many ,but we were happy, zero to five in a couple of months and we have all winter to build on it. Remember if you live in this part of the country send me an email and I will put you on the groups email list.

Any and all, are and will be welcome. I will keep you all posted about any definite plans next spring. Pretty easy trip up I 44 from Tulsa and several of us plan on getting together with you guys (P.I.  guys and gals) also.

The last get together was at Neosho, Missouri. From where you live, over to 71 Highway and head south would probably be the best way. Send me an email if you would like me to put you on the email list. We stay in touch that way and disseminate information as to when, where and if we are going to get together. No cost, obligations nor will I pass any email addresses on to anyone. If you decide you want off the list just send an email and request it and I will remove your name. Same for anyone else. The town that is probably closest to the center of the group is Joplin, Missouri.

I am starting another email list that will be used to notify people when we have a definite event scheduled. I Will put you and Bob on it, that way your mail box won't be clogged with the usual BS er er I mean important model aviation information that we exchange.

I am hoping to attend all the contest in this area next summer including yours and I am sure that some of the bunch will be with me at some of them. I am a Sunday flyer at the best so I will probably not be a competitor, however I will probably bring something and maybe make an unofficial flight when the competition is over. That way I can come back home and say "I flew with the big boys" I met you at Tulsa and Bob at St Louis. I met a lot of others too but I have a real problem remembering names.

We fly all Pampa Classes at the Topeka contest so will be no problem with skill level.  Plus OTS is a great place to have some fun with a less complex airplane.  And we do encourage the 'this is a hobby, lets have fun' idea!!
