My grand daughter, Alex, who is Aaron's daughter, is in the ICU unit at UNC Childrens Hospital at Chapel Hill. Her blood sugar was extremely high, a condition she has not suffered from before. She is 9 years old.

Please uplift your prayers and thoughts for the family.

I'll also keep my fingers crossed while I pray. But Bill I really think it will all be o.k. 9 year olds are remarkably good at recovering from setbacks like this.

HI All,

Thanks, guys. It is rough right now. Heather's Grandmother (she raised Heather, my daughter in law) lost a daughter to diabetes, so it hit hard. No warning in Alex's case, she just went to the pediatrician, they sent her to the ER, and the ER transported her straight on to UNC..

She has just been moved to a new room, out of ICU. Looks like she will come home Friday. She has to meet again with the Pediatric Endocrinologist, and dietitian.

I am diabetic, so I can help her adjust.

It has already been said. But, today's doctors and medication does miracles. Along with GOD's help. Also all our prayers for her and all of our modeling family.

Update:

Thanks to all who have sent their prayers and well qwishes. it definitely helps us all.

OK, it seems Alex is spending another night there, but it might just be for *observation*. They brought her blood sugar down 500 points, so that is good.

She has the same meter I use and will be on about the same insulin (Novolog 70/30) I take. So "Ta Ta" can talk her through some things. She doesn't "like" needles at all, but she is very smart and knows she must deal with them. It looks like she will be fine with all of use helping her out.

More later when I get home tonight, it's only about 1 1/2 hours there. A blessing in itself!

Bill our thoughts are with you and yours.
Hoping for continued improvement for her.

No clue what I am saying on this but have heard of very strange things happening to people due to
artificial sweetener and corn sweetener that seem to be in everything.

Apparently they(sweetener) changes the way our bodies metabolize by causing 2 molecules (in our Bodies?) to debond or some such.
Just a thought.

Great news Bill that they have it under control. Tell her the old DOC doesn't like needles either. Also tell her to take care of herself.

HI All,

Thanks, again, for the prayers and well wishes. They have all helped immensely!

They sent Alex home last night. She looks dramatically better than she did this time last week. The Doctors went through a lot of training for her, Mom and Dad! Aaron had to give her a shot last night, so that was finally done. Everyone had to know how to administer the shots, etc. before she could be released. They still call in the results of her daily tests each night to make sure everything is regulated properly. The Doctors and staff of UNC Children's Hospital really gets all of our thanks! They are really on the ball.

Things are looking up, and Alex is in great hands.
