Title: New Ball Link???
Post by: Paul Taylor on February 17, 2010, 12:57:54 PM
So I am at the point of putting the new CLC controls in my Akromaster. Very nice controls! y1

Anyway I ordered some Dubro ball links and got these. Never seen this type before. They have a screw to tighten and hold the ball in. If you get it too tight the ball will not move. Also seems it was a little tight putting it on the 3/32 threaded rod.

Any one have any experience with these? Good or Bad?

Paul,
I've used them in the past and they worked fine.  I think it's best to connect them up to a control horn and work them for a little while before adjusting the screw tension.  They are stronger than the typical Rocket City type and a little heavier.  Mine worked fine after breaking in, adjusting and didn't tend to tighten up in cold weather as a lot of them do.

Ron Burns said in a thread on SSW (year, two years ago?) that he was using them exclusively. I had some e-mail correspondence with him, and the only issue was the bulk -- fitting two on (some) flap horns can be an issue. Several solutions to that.

I have them on two airplanes, no problems.
