Title: New award for VSC announced at the banquet
Post by: John Miller on March 23, 2009, 10:01:27 AM
I've not seen this reported in the forums yet, so thought it would be good to make note of it for the benifit of those preparing to attand next years VSC.

Kieth Trostle announced the creation of the Palmer award. It's my understanding that it's not a perpetual award, rather a distinct award given out each year. He showed us the award to be given next year. It's carved crystal, and stunning.

Obviously I'm in favor of highlighting the designs of our classic era designers.  I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of Palmer, and Sheek designs next year. H^^

Actually, there were two new awards announced at the VSC Banquet.

It was Bill Heyworth who announced the creation of the Palmer award which will be given to the best Bob Palmer design at the next VSC.  This will be a perpetual award and likely will have a small personal plaque that can be kept by the recipient each year.

There will be more information in the future.

Look elsewhere on this forum for information on the second award that was announced at the banquet.

Are we the black sheep over here on the greatest forum going?   I still browse the other forums, but, they are not as great as this one.  DOC Holliday

Hurray for the Palmer award! I don't want to divert this thread, but...

John, I'd just prefer that we not pit one forum against another. They each have their charms. It would be inconvenient for everyone to post on both and equally inconvenient to have to wade through everything twice in order to monitor each. There is, however, NO reason that someone cannot look at any forum that has something of interest to him/her. One does not need a visa or passport - nor much gumption - to travel among forums.

I like the picture capacity here and the structure and immense archive "there." There is no reason that either forum should have "everything."  I like things as they are, although I'm sure that someone will even want to criticize that, feeling that I should be unhappy...so that they can criticize that too. Right now, we seem to all be in a friendly arrangement. That, IMHO, is good. And with more than two great forums, what - really - is not to like?
