Title: New Arctic Fox on schedule
Post by: Leo Mehl on December 18, 2007, 11:41:17 AM
The Arctic Fox is a 35 sized stunter and I never saw any reason to change anything as far as the design. It is powered by ABC Fox 35 and flew very good. I will send construction pics soon. Finished picture enclosed. Wing almost done.

Sorry Randy...but that is the model that Leo is building for me..for next season. However we haven't come up with a price yet or just how much detail and quality of finish...that I may maximise all the appearence points that I can glean for his beautiful and flawless workmanship.  LL~ LL~

No jazz n' razzin Leo....thats an awesome model photo of your last Foxymammmaaaa! H^^

Thanks. I have plans and so does Pat johnson. Pat drew this autocad for me. I can also furnish short kit. I hope to have this framed up very soon. I don't work very steady in my shop so will probably have it done in a couple of months and then need good weather for painting. This is one of those stunterrs that is just fun to fly.

More pictures showing bellcrank instalation and flap horn bushing detail. They are bushed with brass and you can see preformed leading edge sheeting. and pushrod soldered in place.

Yea I know but the plans are drawn to fly counterwrongway. Both wings same size, take your pick! Also designed to fly above pavement, probably a mistake!@@?????!!!! %^ %^ %^ HB~>

Donaldo,
You and some other guys I know of are really slackers! Get to gluein' and sandin'. You were, and are, one of the best builder/finisher's out there.
It pains me to see my Dad ironing on Monocote R/C stuff when I recall, and look at and touch currently, all of his old dope and silk models in my possesion.

 "...the horror..."

Chris...

Nope, pointed at me. Your not the only one that crashes you know. This year I run a close second. I suspect that your mistake will decrease this coming year. How I do my leading edge skins on the following picture. Good use for old wing.

OK Shultzie,as you know I am not getting any younger and my eyesight is not very good( probably from eyeing your girlfriends over the years) So building anything more than I have to is out of the question. I know you probably have some planes sitting around that you have mothballed. So get the air hose and wax out and come and show us how it is done. We know you are dying to do this and you are not 75 1/2 like me so I don't see that you have a leg to stand on. At least we could stand around and tell lies. Just Razzen and Jazzen ya Buddy. >>I hear that my beloved brotha Randy.....just about has my new next seasons ARF about finished..<<

You'll have to move to Tucson to fly it. That's where it will be living.   :##

I'm sure we could rustle you something up, Shultzie, if you'd just show up to a contest. I have a very cool, USA-1ish plane in the rafters that could be resurrected. Or you could fly my last year's plane, the Slider. It flies pretty well.

OK, all the excuses are now evaporated.

I understand that Shutzie attended a RC contest this last summer in Oregon. There is a story in Model Aviation about it!

Sorry about that RC thing but thought it would get some results as far as you flying. When I got back into this I had a model that was glued togather with Ambroid. That Grinder was 28 years older. I am now using thet half wing to form leading edges the wing is now 40 years old and the glue is still holding it togather. after 28 years of sitting around I flew it another ten years. This plane was origanally called the Rebel and was painted yellow with red and black sunburst on it. It was designed after the Orange Rebel that you posted on stunt hanger. I designed it for a McCoy 40. When I got back into flying I put a OS 40 FP in it. That same FP is powering my Ruffy today. Amazing how long things will last. Like I say get the airhose the cleaner out and wax it up and I am sure it will fly just great. You need somthin to keep you out of trouble. Or maybe this will get you into trouble. mw~ mw~ mw~ mw~ HB~>
