Super Bowl 54 Champs Kansas City Chiefs
« on: February 28, 2020, 12:21:44 PM »
I have no idea if I'm posting this in the right section, but if it's not, I ask that it be correctly placed.  Anyway, a few weeks ago it was my idea to honor the Super Bowl 54 champs, the Kansas City Chiefs (I was hoping it would have been the Ravens … but … maybe next year!). To do this, I decided to scratch build an S-1 Ringmaster. It was a fun build and here's what resulted ! Although the plane was recently sold, it is my greatest hope that the new owner, up in Long Island NY, enjoys many, many flights going forward.

Would not a VECO Chief have been more appropriate, or  Tomahawk, or Brave?

??? :-\  You know … you might have a point!  I just didn't think of it at the time.  Awesome thought though.  Now to see if I can download the plans from somewhere, make some templates and start cuttin' some wood!  Great idea!!  ;D ;D

Jim,
Thank you for acknowledging the KC Chiefs. A bunch of us in the KC area as well as the Midwest have waited patiently for 50 years to see it happen. Our family went to the parade since my employer shut the plant down to allow us to all go. It was worth it.

I am sitting here thinking how the first Super Bowl all the local stations carried the game which I watched with friends.  Then I watched as they won their first Super Bowl.  Now 50 years later they finally win their second.  Replay has sure changed the game.

I rally liked the way they played.  Come from behind in the games.  Last year it was get a lead and then blow it in last quarter.  I probably won't see them win another. D>K

By the way great looking Ringmaster. H^^

Since I've been a KC Chief fan since their glory days with Ed Podelack & Lenny Dawson if I paint a Chief logo on my plane do you think they will let me practice in Arrowhead Stadium this Summer when I drive to Muncie?

WOW!!  AWESOME!!  Congratulations!!  Yes, it certainly was a good game!  The wife and I were on the couch, celebrating with baked beans, chicken wings, cole slaw, mixed nuts, candy and Doritos for the whole game … and had a ball!!   ;D

John you'd never get inside the stadium, or Royals stadium which shares the same parking lot.   A few tried to fly in the parking lot years ago.  They got run off before they got their stuff out of the car.  There are guards there 24/7.  It's the same at Kansas Speedway.  They used to hold a free flight contest there a few years ago-until a couple came down inside the track-during ride-alongs.

Hi Jim K!

That’s a beautiful Box Car Chief. I do think you should add the KC Super Bowl logo! I remember seeing Lou Woolard’s fly at Topeka years ago and thinking how well it flew in OTS. Now seeing yours makes me want to build one. Thanks for sharing my friend.

I was in KC as a lad when they arrived back in the early 60s. Watched them get pummeled in SB1  :'(  Celebrated their victory as '69 Champs.

Then The Drought hit.

Through The Drought I searched out things about their play to enjoy, even during the really tough years. (For example, I always celebrated when Dino Hackett made a good play/etc.)

Enjoyed the Okoye years, LOVED the short Montana years... but the wait continued.

Then this upstart Mahomes kid arrives, along with some other very key acquisitions... and well... the rest is history.

So here it is 50 years later, and the Chiefs are Champs. Wow. What a roller coaster of emotions watching the SB!! (I'm quite emotional when the Chiefs are playing.) It ended well for us... don't know what happened to the Niner's. They played some mighty tough football for over 3 quarters.

Go Chiefs!

Andre

Thanks Bill. It does fly very well on the Super Cyclone with a 12x7 prop. Nice thick wing helps. Looks so cool on the end of the lines, and with the high wing does well on grass fields that are not exactly pristine.
