During our trip to Golden State last week Paul Walker and I were talking about one his old models, the original "Bad News" built during the winter of 1985 for the WC in 1986. Powered by a ST60 it used a tongue muffler. He still has the ship and it looks almost new. He wants to get it off the wall and fly it some more and ask me if I still had any of the Czech mufflers I used to get occasionally and sell to US stunt flyers in the late 80's and early 90's. The last two I had ended up with the late Tom Lay. I'd like to borrow one from someone so that I can make an identical copy for Paul. I know they are out there but can't remember who I sold them to. I can remember Steve Buso getting several from me but I don't know how to get hold of him. Anybody that can help me?

Alan,
What is the signifegance about the Checz muffler? I remember you used one.

John,
Very light and quiet.

Alan, if you are able to get one for duplication, could you make a rough draft drawing with dimensions and post it?

Allen,
Scott Dinger makes tube type mufflers. The ones he made for me was about 1oz. Beautiful work too.

I also have two tube mufflers made by Scott Dinger one for a ST46 and one for and one for an Enya 61 CRX. Both weigh only 1 oz and are magnificently constructed and welded! I would highly recommend them.
Great craftsmanship!

I'm guessing that Paul is looking to duplicate his old setup. It would not surprise me to see him flying the Bad News at a contest next season. Maybe even NW Regionals. VD~
I don't know what happened to the stuff Tom Lay had, but I am sure there is somebody who knows, and that might be a start. Contact Whitely or Dinger, maybe? H^^ Steve

Wrong Bad News. That one had an OS45FSR, and it no longer exists. The 86,87 version had the ST 60. That one I still have.

Hi Alan!
What you are looking for is something like the pictures?
If it is, this is for the ST60.
I can give it. I think it was only used once.

Jose,
The one you have is very similar to what I'm looking for. The expansion tube is a bit longer on yours and the exhaust stack mounts closer to the front of the chamber than mine did. The tube looks so similar, it might have come from the same maker, but was probably a later version. It also looked like it might be heavier. I have actually located one of the originals and will see if I can get it and reproduce it. If not I may take you up on your offer. Thanks a lot.

Here is a picture of the original "Bad News" I took last year when I was over at the "Walker Stunt Ranch". Paul and I cut the foam wing for it one winter day in 84-85 in my shop after he made a special trip up to Vancouver just to get it done.
