The P-40 "Profile with a .40 engine" stunt event ???s
« on: April 30, 2010, 01:14:45 PM »
There is at some events/contests, an event advertised as P-40 Stunt. My 3 questions are:

1.)  I have in my shelves an old GLOBAL RC kit, "Bear-Cat" Profile Fun Fly that has 56" wingspan, and 860 sq. ins of area.  With some trimming down, I think it could be converted to a good CL P-40 stunter.  Any thoughts???

2.)  That kit has a large round cowl foward of wing leading edge. Would that be subject to the CL General Profile rules, even though the table of fuse. thickness does not mention a CL Stunt Profile event or rules if one flies such in a regular stunt event. ???  Of course the cowl could be eliminated. I don't see any special AMA Profile class.

3. The other kit I have is the SIG FAZER. 48" wingspan and 697 squares. With some trimming of the flaps down a bit, especially on the outboard edges and a good .40-.51, that model should do very well on end of the lines.
Anyone tried it?

I will have some information for certain within the next year.  :!

Profile Stunt is not an AMA event and is governed by local rules.  These rules are not harmonized, so it is best to check with the club who puts on the contest.  For example the Northwest Profile Stunt rules http://www.flyinglines.org/rules.p40proposal.07.html differ from those used in SoCal http://www.kotrc.org/events/kotrcprofilestuntrules.pdf

A Nor-Cal flier who is no longer actively involved in the sport did a Sig Fazer oh, 'bout 10 years ago. ST-51 for power. Was a pretty good flier if I remember correctly, go for it!  8)
