Nats / TT Combo
« on: July 16, 2006, 12:22:40 PM »
Randy says "it'll never happen"...but I would wager that attendance to both the Nats and the Team Trials would increase if the Team Trials were held just after the Nats....
It makes sese to have freshly trained judges that have just witnessed a bunch of flights and would save bunches of a++ aches as far as earning a ton of windshield time....

I am of the belief that the Academy would allow a configuration like this....

Nope  Rich  Not unless  the format  is  changed,  AMA  dictates  how  we   MUST  run  the TTs, and it is  nothing like the NATs  format.
They  mandate  that we  run it  just as  the WORLDs  FAI  contest is  done , which is  way  differant than  the  AMA  NATs. it would  also  take  another 2 to 3  additional  days  to  add it into the NATs  Schedule...hardly  likley

Regards
Randy

Rich,

People would still have to pick either or.  Most cant burn and extra 3 or 4 days for the TT after just buring 5 for the nats.   Everyone isnt retired and or independently wealthy.

Good point, Doug.

I can generally get a few days off several times a year, but it would be difficult for me to take two full weeks off all at once. I think I would prefer to hold these as separate events.

Not that I'm a contender or anything.  #^   At least not right now.  %^

It would be nice if a consideration of the TT during the NATS.  Pick what you want, to be on the team or on the Walker Cup.  But, AMA probably would not go for it, unless we move stunt up a day say start on Sunday thru Wednesday with Thursday & Friday for the Team Trials.  But, really the Team Trials site that used to be used is not that far from Muncie, is it?   DOC Holliday
