The wind picked up a bit during the flyoff but Dave abd Ryan did a fine job.Congrats fellas'!!!!!!!
-
Wow! Three points between Ryan and Matt out of two flights. I predicted a shoot out but....wooow!
Any young flier who pushes the Ryan Young I watched at the World Champs (where he proved himself to be #1 Junior pilot in the World) has got what it takes.
Bet little Fitz was paying attention come the Walker flyoff!

Congrats to all the winners
-
Outstanding. Glad to see the the guys do well. And congrats to Matt. That couldn't have been easy. Ryan is a great pilot.
-
So is Matt, as you can see.
-
More reason to get young Matt to the team trials. It amazes me what these young men can do what with school, social life and family. Hope they stay with it. #^ #^ #^

We know Matt can do it, He has some of the best coaches out there pulling for him! You go boy.---LOUIE y1 y1 y1

Top four:
-
Dave Fitzgerald's winner, all dressed up for the 2012 world championships in Bulgaria.
-
The Senior contestants with relatives sent along to keep them out of trouble: Matt Colan with grandpa Don Herdman, Sam Niebel with uncle (I think) Wayne Smith, and Ryan Young with grandpa Bill Rutherford.

I seriously thought I had Ryan beat in the last round as I was ahead by quite a bit! Then when Ryan's score of 524 went up, I knew he got me by just a point or two. It turned out to be 3.2 to be exact.
-
Matt,
Great showing. We are proud of you.

Thanks Tom!
I say that isn't bad for a first NATS.
I got 199 pictures I could post, but I won't, I'll probably post about 10-15.

Let me put it this way, Matt. I've watched a lot of Ryan's flights...especially in the heat of the WCs last year and he's an awesome pilot. The fact that you went head to head and lost by literally a fraction of one percent of the total of two flights says pretty much all that needs to be said.

DOC,
Grandpa and I have been discussing this, and we're going to try and get me to the Team trials. But, our main adversary is my mom and we're waiting until all the stars are alligned right before we tell her/ask her about our plan.
As Howard Rush said, what looks better on a college transcript, going to another country to represent the United States in a world championship competition in a fairly technical sport? Or, spending an extra couple days in high school?
-
Matt,
I am betting we could get a petition circulated and signed to convince your mom!
-
Matt, the very fact that people who have never even met you have pledged money to defray your costs speaks very well of you and how you are perceived by others in the same hobby. Many have chosen you to help represent the USA in world competition.
Mrs. Colan, how can you deprive the world of your son's talents? ;D
-
Matt :
I meant to give you my Dremel also - but I forgot. I will give it to Bob Hunt, to donate to you, hopefully it will see its way to you.
-
Congratulations to Ryan, Matt, and Sam for their excellent performances at the Nats this year!

Grandpa and I have a plan on how we're going to mention this to my mom. Basically I haven't told her of some of the money I already got for the TT's and the Worlds, also I haven't told her that the Thundergazer is being built as a take apart to go overseas. Furthermore, I haven't told her that I won't have to pay a cent to attend the TT's, and also grandma and grandpa would go with me to the worlds. We're waiting for the opportune moment to spring it all on her.

Wait til the bags are packed as well as the airplane. LL~ LL~ Matt, I think you did great for your first NATS. Just now thinking of all those that had high hopes and didn't make the grade. I think you made the grade and deserve to go to the Team Trials. Do you have an address to send funds to? H^^

I do have an address, and I will give it to you once we tell my mom about it. We're going to wait until after this weekend since my birthday party will be during that time.

Seems to me that your birthday party would be a fine time to broach the subject with Mom! y1
I'm writing Matt a check today for what I promised....$100. It's a done deal. y1 Steve
Matt's address is:
Matt Colan, 465 Maquam Shore Road, Swanton, VT 05488-8444.

Matt's address is:
Matt Colan, 465 Maquam Shore Drive, Swanton, VT 05488-8444, according to the '09 PAMPA list.
The slight variation is that it's 465 Maquam Shore Road, not Drive. I must have had a brain fart when I wrote out the address for PAMPA. :P
-
Fixed it. Thanks for the correction, Matt. y1 Steve
PS: I usually just pack up the night before, and leave a note for the wife where I'm going, and when I'll be back.
She's always been here when I got home, or at least within a few hours after....good enough, I say! LL~

There are some sites that people on here use for such large groups of pictures. Maybe they will jump in here and tell you the best places and how to get them loaded. I enjoy seeing pictures that people take, like Elwyn Aud and David Russem(spelling). Especially when I can't be at those places. H^^
