I guess Orestes did not attend for whatever reason...... ???  I have heard nothing about him so far.

Monty flew extremely well, dropping jaws of people who wondered how somebody they never heard of could be so good.  Alas, he left out a couple of tricks, remembered them, and put them in at the end of the pattern.  The judges, not realizing the rules had changed, didn't judge the out-of-sequence tricks.

If you guys would show up at Prairie Fire...August, in Edmonton...you'd get to see the annual Monty vs. Bruce battle. They're very close in flying ability. Bruce's finishes are better...and heavier, but the contest runs with a Pilot's Choice for the Concours Award, so no AP's.  Monty lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, 327 miles from the nearest serious stunt grunt...that would be Bruce. Then, consider their long building season and short flying season. Bruce speaks of Winter being 5 months, and he's not kidding. August is Summer. Bring shorts and polar fleece, you might need both.

Regarding the judging mistake (I'll have to look that up), you'd think that would be covered in all those PAMPA run judge training sessions. If not, why not? I've always thought that learning the new rules is a lot easier than forgetting the old rules, so the fewer changes the better.  H^^ Steve
