Just a suggestion, a pan to show the pilots at the pilot meeting would have been great!

My progress at the NATS. I only scored a 84 Static and I have zero chance at first place. SOS. As it stands now I am set to get third. Today my cowl came off in flight and I got a DQ for the second round. I need a good flight tomorrow to secure third. If its super good I might be able to edge out Ed Mason. Slight chance of that. I'm back at the motel fixing my equipment for tomorrows early flight I am second up in the morning which could be a plus.

If they call the contest because of rain tomorrow I will be last place.

Remind me again why CL Scale was not with the rest of CL as usual.  Did it work out better?

I know what SOS means.  I'm wondering why Sparky said it.  Were you dissatisfied with the judging?  If so why?

Because it's my luck that always gets me. Judging has what to do with my cowl flying off? No need to dissect my every sentence.

I will fly this plane in fun scale and build a authentic scale plane for next year to fly in sport scale so there is no question. Also I will have more that 6 total scale flights under my belt. I also had some equipment problems with my electric drive train. I now know what not to do so that should help some if I choose to fly scale again.

Congratulations! On third place Sparky.  I now 1st place is better but you placed on your first time competing in scale at the Nats.

I am curious of the static judges gave you any feedback on your build? What they downgraded you for and the like?

Yes I got a written description of what they thought was wrong.  I will not enter that plane in sport scale again.

Thank you Sparky for the clarification.  It is nice to have the feedback from the judges.  It will help next time.

Well Sparky you are on a learning curve.  My self, I flew one scale contest years ago before the equipment we have today.  Nothing like high speed taxi and can't get engine to idle back and only stopped when it ran out of fuel.   You have several local scale modelers that should be able to help you.  The scale modelers I knew were always working on details of their scale birds.   Just don't get discouraged. Because NASA had to move the scale event earlier to avoid overfly issues with the CL stunt guys.

Robert,

Placing third for your first attempt at the NATS is quite an accomplishment.  H^^

Now you are armed with more information and the likes of a, soon to be, more competitive model.

I'm sure you will make an excellent choice in what you will be modeling and now having past experience and a win under your belt, that should help at next years NATS.

Will you keep the Forum members Posted as to your decision on choice of model and the building progress?

Not to shabby Robert.  H^^
