Nats Questions
« on: June 02, 2012, 04:43:16 PM »
Can anyone say what model last won the nationals with an ignition engine?

What was the last model to win the nationals that did not have flaps?

#1:  Davey Slagle, 1946?  (Glow plug appeared in '47.)
#2:  Barnstormer?  Lou Andrews, 1950?

Both replies are pure guesswork.  Someone more knowledgeable may chime-in soon.

Hello Mike, Thanks for your reply. I to think the Barnstormer is the correct. I have no idea about the ignition engine question.
It has always been of interest to me to know who won that Nats and flying what from the early days to the present. The Jamison and Humongous are very popular today in OTS but did they ever win? For some reason I remain confused about the Mirror meet and Plymouth.
The King Orange falls in there to It being a Major contest or meet as they where in those days.  Always good to hear from you. Maybe someday I'll get back to Tucson.
