Well, though Howard's travelogue is not represented, good report on Nats News. Looks like Mike Haverly got his electric running again (after substantial damage at the Northwest Regionals) and PJ Rowland made the trip to Muncie OK with tigermobile in tow.
Cool.

I thought Howard did a heck of a job with his travelogue. I'm not sure why it didn't make the Nats News. I thought the Prius making it to Muncie unassisted would make the headines. ;D
I will be anxiously waiting for the updates throughout the week.

Ditto!

Now after reading about what I am missing, the address is now in my favorites. Thanks. H^^

I was pretty excited to see Mike Got his electric rebuilt and flying. As Randy said, it sustained some serious serious damage in Eugene this year. I looked at the pieces and thought it was a write off,, apparantly not, and the new name is pretty cool too, and very appropriate.
Looking forward to seeing how this year shakes out

Don't say "shakes out" about Mike's plane.

Man, PJ is getting a lot of pub from the AMA. Two pics of his plane in today's news from the Nats.
Howard, I guess there's a whole lot of shakin' goin' on.

Australia = Pub , makes sense . :-X n1

Pub = publicity in this case. But I like the way they think! Kiwis I've met hold down their end of the ba' quite well.
Mike's rebuild included an entirely new wing. Not sure if the flaps were recycled or not. It was definitely a mess after Regionals. H^^ Steve

Has Matt Colan showed up? I best be saving my $, so I can make good on my offer of $100 IF he gets two official flights in. I think that was the offer, anyway. And I wasn't the only one to get goofy, so y'all best be getting ready to make good on your donation to his NATS trip! S?P Steve

Matt Colan is here. Flew very well in Classic.
-
Guys,
From the report on SS it sounds like the conditions were not good and several crashes occurred. Any updates?
What was the final order of finish in appearance points beside the front row?
Best, DennisT

Jim crash his 20 pointer. Very sad. Damage to Bob Hunt's plane caused by the wind, I believe. Don't know the extent.
-
Bob Hunts plane was picked up by the wind and he said he would not be fixing it for the next round,

Well, *I* said it was going to be fixed, so we glued it back together later, and it should be out there tomorrow.

Bob has had a rough road these past two weeks! I hope he is able to recover tomorrow.
The weather forcast I read showed light winds (6 to 10 mph) and high 80's all week. What has the weather been like?
Mike
-
Brett,
Thanks for telling Bob it will be fixed.
Sounds like the wind has been bad.
We are starved for information. I know that Allen's space in the AMA update is limited, and you and Howard are trying to fly too.
What happened to Uncle Jimby, Derek, and John D.?
What happened in OTS and Classic?
Pictures?
Help! It is bad enough having withdrawals, from not being there, but someone please get some pictures out to us.

Not all that bad on average. Bobby's problem was during a dust devil. I was flying at the other end of the pad when it happened, but only had a minor effect. Doug got another one later in the round and had some greater difficulty.

Jim, unfortunately, crashed due to a control failure. It was right on the edge of fixing it overnight but Paul and I decided against it. Derek is #1 on his circle with the high score of the day. John D is there and doing OK as far as I can tell, don't know what his results are. Leaders on the four circles are David, Paul, Derek, and myself, but it's just Wednesday so it doesn't necessarily mean much, although I would make David and Paul mortal locks to make it to the end, with Derek in the "virtually certain" category. The rest of us seem to be duking it out for the last spots. Even though am at the top of my group so far I don't particularly like my chances at this point since I can't keep up my energy long enough to work out a few problems I am having.
Brett
-
Brett,
Energy failure? You? Ah, wow. You are usually the most energetic guy at the field.
On the other hand, I know you have been working your backside off for quite awhile. Does tend to slow you down.
-
Thanks Brett,
You see, Bob doesn't know how to win a NATs without having something like this happen ... yeah, an overrun and a run-over!
Ask him to tell you about it. HB~>

I'm glad Bob is going to fix his plane. I ran out of fuel on the overheads on second flight. I am 3rd lowest on my circle and will do my best but doesn't look too good for me.
-
Bob,
Isn't that always the way? The thing works fine, flight after flight, until it's showtime. then it decides to quit in the overheads. Sigh...

Yeah,....I can tell you from my years of knowing Bob Hunt that when the going gets tough Hunt gets tougher. Never give up never surrender. I know Bobby wasn't a Marine but he sure acts like one when things get bad!
Never count him out.
Randy Cuberly
PS: Actually there's a lot of that in all the top guys!

Dean,
It's better if a witness tells the story because Bobby never tells about the vision of his Clarabelle the Clown hairdo collapsed by the continuous downpour as he banged on the door of Roger Barrett's motorhome/tabulator tent with the squished nosed Genesis in one hand and the five minute epoxy in the other. The only good thing about all the rain is you couldn't tell where the rain on his face ended and the tears began.
He felt a lot better a couple of hours later when he got the "big" score of the meet.

I feel like I'm following a soap opera: So, did Bob get the plane back in the air? What was Derek's plane's cosmetic damage? How did Jim lose his plane? Is Ted secretly Brett's illegitimate step-uncle?
OOps: should have added LL~
-
Bob repaired his plane and flew well. Derek was near the top of his circle. (or at the the top.) Jim's plane crashed due to the failure of his adjustable elevator horn. ( I was told this, did not hear this directly from Jim.)
-
Thanks a bunch, Ted!
Other witnesses (now under federal protection) have further embellished that part of the story.
good luck to all,
Dean P.

Matt Colan posted on FB that he took 3rd in Advanced. Great job for his 1st NATS. y1
