The U.S. Nationals are getting closer and closer, hope everyone has their ducks in a row. Serious business, deciding a National Champ. AMA part of NAA part of FAI and all. Good luck and good will to all the contestants! dg

Not even close.. Planes ready pilot is not but I will have fun..

Anyone know who is running the un-official events? Beginner, Intermediate, Old Time, and Classic? I will be there to judge the main event but have time available before my official duties begin and I would like to help out.

Steve:
Bob Brookins has taken over for me in Nats Old Time & Classic.
Allen Brickhaus, as usual, has Beginner.
Not sure about Intermediate, though I believe Brookins retains that as well.
Gonna' miss you, guy! ..... Especially at the after-hours "wet-down" in my hotel room. Say hi to Bill for me!

Doug, Jake and I will be rolling out of Dallas on the 3rd. I've got
14 flights on my new plane. So, a little more practice would be
nice. I'll be at the contest this weekend in Dallas, otherwise I'm
flying (work) 'til the end of the month. Doug will be taking Old Blue
(or as he calls it the Nats plane) and with only about 1,000 flights
on it he's almost ready.

Ready? Man, that's a laugh... but I did get some books on CD for the trip. The Van got new tires last week and a synthetic oil change. Flew the backup plane last weekend and made sure it's ok. Oh, and then there is that practice stuff...Ready? I don't think I'll ever be ready, just run out of time at some point and have to go with what I got! This is my first Nats and I'm about as nervous as a cat in an alley behind a Chinese resturaunt! n~

Hey Eric, don't be nervous, it is just another local contest for the guys/gals that live there. Do your best and have fun as you will be meeting a lot of people. DOC Holliday

Fantastic....All three Moon males in one place!
Heck, a 1000 flights is just getting it broken in. I'm sure all the controls are nice and free by now!
Good luck.

With any luck I'll be there for my first Nats. Being ready may be another story, especially since this year it seems to rain every day here in Virginia.
I'll be nervous, too, especially since I've been plied with so many "The air is different there" stories regarding how one's motor will not run/plane will not fly once you get there. I expect to see a label: "Muncie aerodynamic anomaly" on maps for the region.

I was ready the minute I checked out last year. Now flying is another story. I have a great time every year with everyone talking shop. Of coarse my dad didn't understand why I had to get up at 4:30 am to be there at first light but it just was the excitement of the event. I think this year I'll let him sleep in.. LOL
