I copied this from Howard Rush's post on SSW:  (unofficial, but the report is in)

1. Orestes Hernandez (Walker Cup winner)
2. Derek Barry
3. David Fitzgerald
4. Paul Walker
5. Brett Buck

Sr.:
1. Oki Minato

Jr.:
1. Ryan Young

Advanced:
1. Josias Delgado

I have flown with Orestes, Josias, and of course Derek (a lot).  Good group of guys all around!

Hmmm, so much for judging bias.   <=

Congradulations to Orestes!

This post will probably self destruct, but how can a Yatsenko Shark  be allowed to compete in open?

I know someone will correct me if I am wrong, but it seems I heard or read somewhere that they had a deal to get the Shark in an unassembled kit form? and built it themselves

Orestes had the Yasenko's create a kit of the Shark.  He got prior approval from AMA before entering the kit airplane the first go around (2 or 3 years ago was that plane's first Nats appearance)

Is the shark available as a kit or do you have to be special to get one? seems that anyone interested in competition will see that it was a shark and not knowing that it was a special kit would assume that it is ok to compete with the regular arf. Anyway, congrats to the man for winning the cup, some compete their whole life never to win it.

Orestes got a well-deserved win.  I heard a lot of muttering around the scoreboards, but he was flying very well and very consistently.  Definitely top notch.

Hi Douglas,

The Yatsenkos will not *usually* sell a kit.  The construction they use is the key to their reputations.  Orestes had to do a LOT to convince them to provide a kit to him that would meet the AMA rules as to BOM.  And IIRC, it wasn't much less than the built up plane.....  which is in the neighbourhood of $2000.

Someone may correct me on the price (and I hope they do if I'm wrong), but that is the least amount that I have heard, and I *guess* it comes with the Retro 60.
