August 15th is National Model Aviation Day.
The AMA has a slew of editable materials to help promote this event....
The original concept was to support the Wounded Warriors Project, a legitimate charity....a club may opt to support them, or a charity of their choice, or none.
This is an opportunity to expose airmodeling to the masses, with professional support.
The MCRC has gotten on board and will offer "Learn to Fly" as part of the fun.
Check it out:

Have fun!

A funny thing happened last year during the "National" event. I am a firm believer that our wounded warriors need all we an do o help them. With that I bought the shirts, offered n amount of money and on the given day I flew alone to honor the vets. In my pledge I wrote that I did not belong to an AMA local club but wanted to donate in my name. Time passed, my check cleared an d I forgot the whole thing until I received a reward certificate honoring the work my club, the "Joseph Just" club did in helping make the event so successful. The envelope was sent to "The Joseph Just Club" and the enclosed certificate mentioned the Joseph Just club twice. Isn't automatic publication of certificates wonderful? Now I'm waiting to get special offers from manufacturers for my club's participation in the WW Project.

PS I will be in NY State on 8/15 attending my 60th HS reunion so both myself and my club will more than likely not fly for the event thi year.

How does flying a model plane help "Wounded Warriers"? There are more direct ways to do this.

National Model Airplane Day bought in $100,000 for the AMA to give to the WWProgram. I think that does some help!
