Fellows lets join together tomorrow 5 May '16 for the National Day of Prayer, let us Pray America back to God. Thanks and God be blessed
-
AMEN !!!!

AMEN!!!

I pray every day.
-
Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo.
When yet another country celebrates beating France in a war.
-
So what other country beat France at a war other than Vietnam (which coincidentally beat the U.S. as well)? And what does this have to do with your National Day of Prayer?
-
Depending on your metaphysics Lafayette would be offended. Founding fathers would also take exception. Then again, hard to know what is meant.

This why the country is in the shape it is. Look at our schools or the ones that don't allow prayer or pledge of allegiance. If some people don't believe in prayer why hinder those that do. It is like the story of the man who opened a bar across the road from a church. The church prayed for the closing of the bar or getting rid of it. It caught fire and burned to the ground. The man sued the church for damages. Now the judge has to decide is there power in prayer and hold the church responsible or deny there is power in prayer and tell the man he is on his own and hopes insurance will cover him. I believe in prayer and seen it work many times and there are examples right here on this forum if you will look. H^^

I have to agree with you Doc. I've seen it work too.......

Can't we just talk about control line model airplanes?
All other subjects are very personal and there are other forums for these subjects. D>K

Amen Doc. Good show.

Agree'd, there needs to be a no politics no religion on this forum, for crying out loud guy's this a toy airplane site, leave the politics and religion at home, as stated there are other sites for that stuff.

I totally agree.

We could at least pray that the FAA would change their mind on over reaching our model airplane hobby. Divine intervention is about the only way this hobby is going to last more than a few more years otherwise.
-
OMG..... pray - really - HAHAHAHAHAHAAA
I'll talk to my girlfriends cat for you guys - will get the same results
-
I'm with ya Bootlegger! We need revival.. And it wont come from a man..
God Bless
Mike

Can I get an amen!

To: Motorman and Wynn -- I also believe in prayer and do it every day. I would much rather believe in God and when I die not have Him exist than not believe in Him and when I die have Him exist. To each his own, I will say a prayer for the both of you.
-
Gil, I bet you didn't think you would get so many negative responses for a simple request for prayer for America? It may not be toy airplane related, but surely it must be OK on this forum to pray for each other when we are sick, or going through some bad times, or acknowledge VETERAN'S Day, America's Independence Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, etc. Yes, it's about Toy airplanes, but do we have behave like brats when one of our peers has such a simple, sincere, and noble request. My two cents worth!!
May GOD BLESS AMERICA, and may HE move in the hearts and minds of everyone involved in this thread. He loves all of you(us) much more than you and I can imagine! Now if this inflames some of you my sincerest apologies, it was not intended.

Gene, That's what I've been thinking too!
Doug, I agree with you too!
As for the rest of you, if you want to be a heathen it's OK with me. Just don't pass judgement on the rest of us OK? Let he who is without SIN throw the first stone.......

Gene, this what our retired preacher used to say. He passed away a few months ago and I got to see him before he left us. He was very relaxed and ready to go. H^^
-
I've had prayers answered in my own life before I even asked. Amazing grace.
-
I'll never understand why people bother to comment when they don't like something.
It's really simple. If the topic is not your thing then skip it.
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. You don't have to go out of your way to be mean. It's an open forum in a country that allows free speach. Let's press on.
-
Right on Doc.!!

Well said. I thought the title of this thread pretty much made its intent clear. If one can write well enough to pen a response decrying the presence of a thread he/she should have been able to read the title with enough intellect to know he/she would find its content likely distasteful and go elsewhere.
For instance, if I read the icky word Rye on a colored beverage bottle I've no compulsion to taste its contents in hope of savoring a fine bourbon.
I've had quite enough of a handful of Americans...especially those demanding their "right" to educate our children...telling us where, if anywhere, on school grounds they are allowed to speak of the principles and priorities valued in their homes unless those principles and priorities are in lockstep with those of the "educators"...and, even more reprehensible when "our" government deigns to tell "its citizens exactly what sort of speech is ideologically acceptable after holding their ever dampened finger in the air to find the direction from which the votes are most likely to blow their way.
-
Ted, that was great!
-
Aah, the joy of reading my buddy Ted's greatly written and perfectly expressed thoughts on this. Way to go my friend, and by the way, a huge AMEN to it! We also need to remeber that Christ told us the world would hate us because it first hated Him. These negative comments should be no surprise to those of us who believe, but they should spur us on to pray, not only for those commenting here, but our entire country as well.
-
Ted's got it down.
Chris...
-
Amen Ted. H^^

Ted, that was very well said. W.W.

Right on Ted. Anymore, "our" U.S. "schools" are nothing more than governmentally directed Youth Programming Centers.

posting a religious topic will ALWAYS get responses good or bad - just because YOU believe in something doesn't mean everyone does.
and by the way "jesus" is an arab jew - pretty much the people YOU are fighting "terror" against - oh, I spelt oil wrong....whoops

While I'm not a fan of political and religious post on the model airplane forum I have to question what your trying to accomplish with this post. Just because you DONT believe in something doesn't mean you need to go out of your way to offend others around something they find sacred. You've shown extreme lack of character with this.
-
they offend me by posting religious stuff. what's the difference?
-
I guess my advice to you would be that if you find religion that offensive try and develop the good sense not to open a thread titled "National day of prayer".
I've said my piece and now I'm done with this.
Jim
-
If what Ted wrote offends you, it probably should.
-
Poor christianity, everybody is all up agin it. So tender, so delicate. Almost like it was made up or something.
As long as there are tests on Friday there will be prayer in school.
-
I wish you a Buddhist meditation a praise Allah prayer and a copy of the 23rd psalm.

I think threads like this are useful for pointing out a person's character. It identifies people in our modeling community that enjoy being "contrary".
If you don't like the program, change the channel. Don't open the thread. Don't respond. Unless you WANT to stir something up. One could consider that low character.
I just barely make the cut-off into the baby boomer group. My parents served in WWll. My siblings and their friends are all older than I. I am familiar with the ideals, values, and beliefs that this generation typically have. This is not the America we grew up in. That disturbs a lot of boomers. Like me. But, rather than insult those whom I disagree with by getting my offensive words in, I learned to let it go. You can say your piece, like I am doing now, but in an un-offensive way. That is a value I learned that is not always common place today.
Someone smarter than I said: You can stay quiet and let people think you are a fool, or open your mouth and remove all doubt.

This is a no risk forum. Say what you will. Nothing is put on the line. If you seek political change. If you don't like the decisions in your schools. Whatever burns you up show some guts and take your POV elsewhere where it might matter. Where you put something on the line. Day of prayer. Really. Whose prayer. Whose religion. Yeah it's irksome when folks make arrogant proclamations irrelevant to model airplanes on a forum designed for fun.

It never ceases to amaze me that people that already know that 2 things you don't post in any public forum, politics and religion, go ahead and post it anyway. They think that everyone believes as they do, and the others don't matter. That says a lot about them, and it's not good.
-
Well, I was going to say we all (except Dennis) should maybe pray that Hillary doesn't become elected . . . but then realized that this sort of comment doesn't belong on a CL Stunt forum.
Sorry 'bout that! LL~
-
I had my prayers answered. Trump.

The Bible instructs the born again to above all else, preach the gospel and convert the heathen. Some folks are very zealous when it comes to this command and will use every means and opportunity to do so. So it is not unusual that it happens here but still I pray every day that religion and politics stay out of these discussions. However I am losing my faith... I think the big guy upstairs has his smart phone turned off!

I know it says that. People quote it all the time. What gets me is they never quote the verse that comes right before it that gos
And Paul said "Hey, here's a good way to @#$% people off every morning. Go up to them and...."

Dennis.... TRUMP- ME TOO, 23RD PSALM THAT'S GOOD TOO! Arrogant proclamation(National day of prayer)- Gil didn't proclaim the NDOP, but the President did! Although this is a model airplane forum, nothing ever said about guys being off topic with showing off their Classic cars, sports cars, u-tubes identified as being off subject/topic, and talking of other interests/hobbies unrelated to m. airplanes. Some of the guys even share totally unrelated interests not related to model airplanes such as singing opera, listening to classical music, acting in theatre , building furniture, building guitars , painting, and even where they went on vacation, etc. Is it possible to view a request for prayer in the same way?
We are not trying to promote religion, I'm so sorry that this offends some of you -it shouldn't, but as Ted and others have said, don't read the thread if you don't like it's title. However,if you do read and respond in the negative then that's OK too. Some of us will rebut what some of yawl say and you will rebut us, then one rebut after another as is happening here. I don't think anything is wrong with any of us saying what we think! It's the thinking that may be........ know what I mean?

I'm exhausted from Mother's Day traveling and rehearsing a new play. Soon as I can look at stuff, I'll include a Classic Chinese poem translated by Red Pine. Many lovely prayers in Poems of the Masters. An anthology of Chinese poems created in the 14th ce. Before Mao, young Chinese students were expected to memorize many of these. The Red Pine translations are uniformly brilliant.
I've been thinking about our forum. What if we had night school(s) around where we could learn about whatever we were interested in. Literature, Art, Music, History, or applied Arts, sculpture, painting, cabinet making. Modeling certainly. I'm thinking of broadening our perspectives. Yeah. Our tit for tats take up mental space. But there's a wider world out there. Ultimately more interesting and compelling.
-
This is very simple.
The folks here that don't believe it is because you can't. Your without the Sprit.
The person without the sprit can't accept the things that come from the Sprit of God. You consider them foolish.
Here is where others are. We believe that the some of our friends and flying buddies are drowning and would like to throw them a life saver (Savior). But until people realize they need saving they will reject the sprit and everything that goes with it.
The first post was about bringing America together with prayer. Not surprise to see division because God is sharper than a two edge sword.
The US is in bad shape just watch the news. Along with this fallen world we live in. But there is hope.
There is a day coming where ever knee will bow and every tongue confess the Jesus is Lord.

I think Sparky is passing the offering plate so we can keep this site on line. S?P

OK, I'll bite....whats a "sprit"?

As it should, Wynn. Exactly as we pro and con elex versus IC endlessly.
What isn't acceptable is declaring threads/opinion--clearly identified as addressing subjects with which one is uncomfortable--as "unacceptable for inclusion" simply because one prefers elex and the subject matter is IC which he/she does not prefer.
Sparky's site is a "forum" which is pretty much Latin for talking to one another.

Well Mr Garf. I happen to believe that those who refuse to believe in God and Jesus Christ will soon find that they don't matter. No offense meant just stating a fact! You have every right to believe what you will. I suggest you also have a right to pay the price for it in the end!

"I happen to believe that those who refuse to believe in God and Jesus Christ will soon find that they don't matter. No offense meant just stating a fact!"
Actually, that statement is Opinion, your belief. I'm not saying you're right or wrong just that you didn't offer facts you offered opinion.
However, it is a fact he has every right to believe what he wants, in this country anyways. And also in the end we will all find out or not, nobody gets out alive.
-
We're still fighting about some clowns stealing a holiday date?
Yikes!

Fact??? according to who? There is nothing I hate more than someone attempting to force their religion on me. I will not stand for it.

Oh you know, eternity in a lake of fire, serpents ripping the flesh from your bones, glass being rubbed in your eyeballs, endless crotch punches and anything else a goat raper in the middle of the desert could think of a couple thousand years ago when they were stealing myths from older religions. That kind of stuff. You don't believe in his mojo, you're in bad joo joo.
Or
You'll cease to exist, just like before you were born or somewhere before when your synapses started working, there will be, for you, nothing. How did you live your life? Hopefully those around you that you leave behind will proffer favorably.
Regardless, he does wish the best for you and you should take it at that value. I obviously don't agree or believe that way and will say so when questioned. It is just how we each individually handle the fact that we're here and if it doesn't have some greater meaning then we're just slightly more complicated organisms then bacteria whose only purpose is to eat, excrete and make more just like us, that's too much nothing for many. It MUST mean something more.
Mankind always has a problem with just being happy with what they have which is another reason why we are so adaptive and successful. Dolphins are perfectly content. Haven't seen one of them with a cell phone have you? You won't either. Know why? There's no coverage at sea! Duh!
-

Somehow I fail to see where Randy tried to FORCE his belief on you. You're kinda thin-skinned about this whole thing if you think he's forcing you. As you even noted, he just expressed an opinion. The fact is expressed in the Bible we believe in and accept as the factual and accurate word of God. he even said you could make whatever choice you wanted to. Wow, you HATE him for that? That's what you said. Goodness, I hope the two of you never meet or Randy's in hot water.
-
At least Christianity is not condoning beheading like some religions. I never seen my Dad go to Church. but we would talk while taking a break from chores or other farm work. He always said there is a supreme being some where. Then he stated if we make mistakes, we are to own up to them. By the way I am far from perfect and I guess that is why I spend time asking for forgiveness.
-
I have tried to stay out of this but I have some strong personal convictions...
The two that created me were what are called good Christians and I of course was raised to "Believe" in a God and Jesus Christ
I am a curious sort and during some of the Catholic school teachings had a hard time with several of the Churches absolutes...
As an Army brat live on Taiwan, in Chile, Panama, and Irag and was exposed to more than western culture and religion...
Personally, long ago I decided that believing has no down side and I think the BASIC tenements of each different "Religion" has a well intentioned focus....live in peace, be kind, love one another, take care of your brother, don't screw up you environment, don't hate
In all this I have zero angst or fear of other religions NOR non believers, and I do not wish any of them eternity in the concept of a Hell
I personally deplore intolerance on either side
I suspect any that saw the Topic "National Day of Prayer" and decided to read and submit negative comments are seeking some form of self aggrandizement...or just butt heads that are intolerant of any form of a religion
NOTHING the OP said or did was seeking to start any controversy, anger, or any way intended to @#$% anyone off...
On this forum we discuss lost friends, sick friends, lost dogs and other critters, sick dogs and critters. Many of us offer support, prayers and good wishes....all good intentions and not meant to assault anyone's personal belief system
I know many atheists and agnostics. Face to face they never chastise me for being a believer in a higher power, and I never try to "convert" them....I totally respect their personal conviction and I very dearly love them for showing respect for my convictions
