Gordon,,
its the story book ending, it needs to happen
sadly I am afraid that if he does win, the Nascar conspiracy theorists will come screaming out of the woodwork crying that nascar made it happen that way,, sigh

I'd like to see Gordon or a Harvick repeat. Many would like to see the underdog (Truex), but IMO, one race win doesn't scream "Champion". Still, as long as it's a Chevy...  ;) Steve

It would be nice to see Jeff Gordon go out in style.  However the world will still turn if he doesn't.  A long and Remarkable career!

I hope Harvick crashes in flames after he robbed the 88 of the Talladega win with that assclown move on the final restart.

How can I not vote for Jeff as he lives so close to me here in Concord NC. I see him and some other local Nascar people all the time. Jeff is very easy to talk to and his financial help for children is outstanding.

The other day I took a little ride down to the Speedway. The preparations for the "big weekend" are mind boggling so it doesn't matter if you're a rabid fan or you think they look like Skittles going down a toilet, ya gotta admit it's a huge business!

I think that the current "Chase" format really made a joke of itself - with help from Logano and Kenseth - but now that some of the fastest cars are out of the running, I'm for Jeff Gordon, whom the "fans" used to Boo because he won "too often." He's been generous all his career (got Jimmy Johnson hired), especially to the kids. I'm for the storybook ending, and Jeff's winning tomorrow's race outright might restore some championship credibility. So,..."Go Jeff!"

Jeff Gordon is the sentimental favorite with  his last race and championship run, Truex is the underdog, Harvick is  the Champ , Kyle Bush has overcome  a Broken leg and foot, sidelined for injuries and still made the cut . The only other driver that compares  to Bush would be David Pearson

Since Joe Gibbs Racing is across the interstate fron the Huntersville flying site and David Smith works for the JGR ,  I will be pulling for JGR and Kyle Bush.

Since this has changed to a show your car. This was my C/gas back in the early 1960's. 1941 Nash coup 283 with 671 blower.456 gears. It was a great  1/8 mile strip car. Later ran it with a 327 & two 4's and 370 gears. I owned the Sun station where it is parked. As it sits here it is a street car with the 327 in it. Wish I never sold it. HB~>
Also a picture of my coup with original motor and my first car 1955 Chevy Convertible. I am still driving convertibles.

I will begrudgingly admit that Bush can drive a race car and knows how to race. What I have an issue with is he seems to be the biggest A-hole currently racing. I would be thrilled if both he, and his older brother, mouthed themselves out of Nascar rides. I lost respect for both of them a looong time ago.

Well he did it with some sort of "free pass" that NASCAR allowed him so he wouldn't be in such a big points wise after missing 11 races, didn't they? With out that, he probably wouldn't have made the Chase, I'm thinking.
Jeff Gordon retires still at the top of his game. A top ten runner consistently still, and has the new Iron Man record, having never missed a start in his career. He is a natural talent and one of the most track wise drivers since A.J Foyt, and I would have liked to seen him drive Indy Car for a while before taking on the stock car world. I would sure like to see him drive a midget again!

NASCAR needs to go back to original scoring in which you could be champion with out winning a race.  I too am not a big fan of the Bush boys but they do know how to get the cars around the track.

Gordon didn't disappoint, At first I thought a bearing was going but it was Gordon whining throughout the race. 88 hit the wall and the 48 got caught cheating. Geaux 18.

I don't understand where the word "whining" comes from. The guy hung in there all day with an ill-handling car and made a great final push. I'd hardly think it wise to tell the crew, "It's great. I just don't know how to drive fast."

Honestly, I thought the race was fine, other than that chancy caution period that changed the outcome. All in all though, I congratulate Kyle Busch for making such a spectacular effort this year and carrying it through. I have to admit that I found the pre-race activities fascinating, with Jeff Gordon welcoming Lewis Hamilton and Mario Andretti, as well as his peers. Those three are probably better known and recognized around the world than any American stick-and-ball sports athletes, including our (Cleveland's) particular athletic "King."
