At our sport speed event one of our club members had this airplane and was wondering what it was. The ribs have stenciled numbers so I do believe it is a kitted plane just not what it is. Thanks again David

I'd say it's a scratchbuilt job that someone just put together using a rib set from some other kit. If I was betting on it, I'd say it's a Ringmaster wing.

actually if you look close and follow the top fuselage line it looks like it is the ringmaster (S1A) with balsa scabbed onto it. tail is altered and may have been thickened up too.

S1a wing with home-brew fuse/tailfeathers.

On another note, has anyone ever seen a S1 fuse/tailfeathers with a flite streak wing? Possible future project!

The S-1 has a spar and a "baseball bat" LE. This looks like a D-Tube and definitely no spar.

I dont think it is a ringmaster, like was mentioned, the mid wing spar is not there, though the square holes could be where it would go,, but I doubt it because to make the leading edge a C tube, ( or D tube) would require shaving down the ribs,, a painstaking task,, at best

Note the use of Ambroid cement and a BUILT-UP trailing edge instead of a solid notched piece??

I"ll vote Jim Walker "FIRECAT". Wing and horz/elv look like one.The stamped numbers on the ribs arn't Sterling or Goldburg.

The more I look at it, the more I see it isn't a S1A Ringmaster wing. Those rectangular holes in the ribs aren't right. The Ringmaster has round or oval holes,if I'm not mistakened.And the trailing edge is sheeted, like a RSM S1! Those holes look big enough to be spar holes! Maybe more angles with the camera would help. I have no idea. Good luck

It could be an Estes Stunting Jr Ringmaster wing. They had a c type wing with 2 spars.

Ringmaster S-1A wing and fuselage with wood added to top of fuselage, ringmaster doublers for sure .. Can't figure out the square holes in the wing .. maybe someone cut for some type of jig or possable a later (after Sterling or between S1 and S1 A version ).. probably a put together from other crashed planes model

My vote goes for the Ringmaster Jr. wing with modifications. Modified fuselage and tail section are evident, but it looks as if the wing has been modified to include a wider center section (as I did mine) by adding the part between the wings that is normally removed. The later Estes kit had apparently been intended for some type of competition because the box calls for anything up to a .25 and the box shows a Fox (.19 or .25) schnuerle. I have an Enya .09 on mine.

Looking at the pics, I think it is too small to be a S1-A, although the construction is similar.

Of course, like everyone else, this is just a guess.

Nope! No FireCat here. All 3 F'Cats had solid trailing edges and "V" shaped Leading edges that were to be rounded off.

I agree to the S-1A wing put in what someone called a fuselage. There is no central spar as it is a C tube type leading edge. I had one of the few in this area an flew the heck out of it. I think the sqaure holes were cut into the ribs by who ever built it. It is definately not a Combat Cat either as that was my choice of combat wing in the early days of my combat flying. Also far from being a Fire Cat wing also. I still have my Fire Cat.

Nope. Those are die-cut holes for leadouts. You can see the rear leadout in one pic

Definitely a sparless C-Tube wing design, with sheeted TE, from a kit.

Lookslike a Dick Sarpolus Pretender. The forward canopy and short square fin give it away. See link. Blackhawk used to make a kit, I believe.

Guarantee 100% it is not a Ringmaster S1a wing.

It is not Combat Cat wing either.

Having built most all the kits from Top Flight, Goldberg ,Sterling my best guess is it is not from one of these MFGs.

I do like the wing on it though.
