Title: MYSTERY MODEL OF THE DAY? Looks like a Robert Emmett design.

I keep running across this scan that I took around 30 some years ago at the Aerospace center parking lot...

What a clever paint scheme! (Very strange Ama # 66651 or 65657???
It appears to be a Bob Emmett Ike design...so if Keith Trostle is lurking, maybe the ama # will clear up the some of the cobwebs' of my mind? H^^

Love that airbrush theme on the left wing...
Maybe that 2nd letter could be a "3"?
I'll pop it in the scanner again and pump up the pix...for another look?

did you mean Walt Prey? I dont think its his, the flow of the color trim lines doesnt work as well as his stuff does,,, again, just my perspective,, and His colors tend to be more pronounced variations,,,

I am sure Bob Emmett (our snow bird) when he gets back knows the model builder.

How sobering when I look at so many of these old slides...sad that I have forgotten the names and dates that really shines a light on my demented paint fumed out brain. n~ :-\

Sad to say...........I given away soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomany of the slides to the owners of the models and others modelers who asked for duplicates. It was just eaiser to pop them in an envelope, stick a stamp and drop them in the mail.

So many of the local camera outlets etc...stopped making dups and prints from slides...until just recently.

Don.....something to think about.....several scanners have the capability of scanning slides and negatives. I looked at a HP unit recently that would do both, and it was not that expensive....i.e. < $150.

The slides continue to deteriorate with time, so it would be a good project for you to digitize your slide collection, allowing you to archive the photo, to email and post easily, and also to make prints, at home, easily and quickly.

Depending on how many slides you have, you might what to throw a "slide scanning party" and invite some friends over to help.

First and worst....I have this old Dell Dimension E310 that has a hard drive with virtually no space or memory left.
For my birthday...I bought this Epson V300 slide scanner for $120.00 but so far it is not only painfully slow and can only scan 4 slides at a time...or 35mm only B&W-color negs...(if the color negs haven't shifted too much into the purple range of decay.

I can scan about a dozen slides before I transport them to photoworks or webshots...(however once I send them to webshots...I can no long right click and save these for later personal use?
So far the photoworks seems the best option?????

Hi Don,

I can see that managing your photos is a chore for you, but it really doesn't need to be. What you really need, is someone that can look at your equipment, and walk you through the proper way to do thing....it's quite straight forward for one with a bit of computer experience. We can help you here on the forum, but an 'in-person' guide would be much easier.

I'll briefly try to address some of your issues.

First....the ancient Dell....it has very obvious limitation, but for basic photo archiving, it will do the job with some easy 'fixes'. An external hard drive is inexpensive, but would require a USB port to plug it in. Much easier, is to install an INTERNAL hard drive. This would use all internal power and wiring and the job could be done in minutes. And the cost is very low. You can probably manage with just the 256 MB of RAM for now.

Pictures that you scan or digital photos that you take, should be loaded DIRECTLY to your HD and not to some internet site. Later on you could COPY photos to internet sites, but the original should always remain on your HD.

To manage and organize photos on your HD, the very best program, IMHO, is free from Google, and is called "Picasa". Look on Google's site for the link to a free down load. It's an amazing program, and perhaps the most trouble free software on my computer.

It sounds like you don't have a digital camera....the prices are so reasonable that you owe it to yourself to buy one. Study some reviews first.

So, try and find a friend locally that can help you, but if you can't, we will be glad to give it a shot here on the forum. Lots of good computer gurus present here.

I tried the Google Picasa but even that took up too much space on my hard drive and after dumping Picasa...for some reason my computer started working again....but still is painfully slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

The listed requirements for "Picasa" are:

System Requirements:

Windows XP/Vista or Linux
256MB RAM
100MB available hard disk space

Question for you:

1) Do you have XP?

2) The Dell has 256 MB of RAM, so you qualify there.

3) Do you know how to see how much space you have on your HD?

4) **Do you have someone locally that can ease you through the job? That would make your life much simpler.
