My Wife
« on: December 21, 2015, 10:16:23 PM »
Finally got the wife(Janis) to go to the emergency room today.  I know I'm a little late with this.  Started two weeks ago when she went to her doctor not feeling well.  He told her it was just stomach flu and as usual wrote her a prescription.    She didn't complain until after the annual baking get together with her sisters.  Anyway she kept telling me she was doing fine and not worry.  But Sunday morning, yesterday she didn't go to Church.  She went to bed early last night and during the night I had to let the dogs out and relieve myself.  When I came back to bed she was still in the same position as when we went to bed and didn't complain about our noise.   I grabbed her ankle and it like an ice cube and I had to call her name several times before she responded.   After we got up this morning the dogs and I, I was doing my daily routine and she finally asked me to take her to the hospital.  I did not argue with her and we hit the road.  I guess we got there in time, but I think I should have forced her to go sooner.  She has an infection in her colon that got in the blood stream.  Not only that she was dehydrated and they immediately started her on fluids and an antibiotic once the tests were done.   She is going to be kept for a few days.  I thank GOD she will not get worse.  Wish I could get her to change doctors as all he does is write prescriptions.   He's the one I went to for my knees and was told nothing could be done and naturally wrote out a pain prescription which didn't work.  I'm so grateful we also have the medical technicians we have.

My very best to you and your wife.  I'm sorry she is sick, but it sounds like you've done the right thing and she will be well soon.

My prayers are with you and her.  Merry Christmas to you and all of your family.

No sense beating yourself up with hindsight Doc, you did well to get your wife to hospital before things were any worse.  Here's hoping she's well again soon, and you get her home in time for Christmas (or very soon afterwards).

Hi Doc,

I am glad to hear that you did get her to the hospital quick enough that they seem to have caught the infection.  We all know that could be serious.  May she heal quickly and completely!  A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, your wife, and the family!  I thank God she will be OK!  Praying for you and the Missus!

John,

Start looking for another doctor a lot more competent than the one you have. I at this point would not place a whole lot of trust in him.

John, now is the time when you have to take good care of yourself, so that you'll have the strength to take care of the Mrs.  Both in the hospital and after she comes home. You've got your hands full with this and the dogs, but you're da man, and gotta be strong. This will be a Christmas to remember, for sure.

I see a new Doctor in your future. It's not easy when so many Doctors are retiring and some don't want to deal with Medicare patients. Best of luck with that, plus a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  H^^ Steve

Take very good care of your Mrs., I am sure she is on the mend and hope you can get as much needed rest yourself as well.

And like a few others above, please check on getting another Doctor if at all possible.

Hope you do have a good Christmas in spite of resent events.

God Bless

Well I managed to go see her yesterday.  She is almost her usual self.  They had her eating Jello and some kind of broth.  No solid food.  She had no dinner, breakfast or lunch before that and I can understand why she was grumpy.  Hopefully she will be home the day before Christmas.  They have her kind of quarantined in which I had to put on a gown and not touch or make contact with her.   Says she hasn't got much rest with cell phone going off.  One granddaughter spent the first night with her.   Guess it's time I get off here and go see if the nurses are still talking as she can be hard to get along with.  And I do thank everyone for the well wishes.

Only the second time of our marriage she did not spend Christmas at home.  The first time was when we took some of the family to Disney World in Florida.  Bout froze last day there and celebrated New Years Eve in Chattanooga.  She is now having some breathing problems.   Thanks again to everybody for the prayers.

I do truly want to thank everybody for the prayers and get well wishes for the wife.  She is home and was told that we were going to daughters place for late Christmas dinner.  Mean time had to go get prescription and then go get daughter in Missouri and bring her and family up.   I have the vehicle to haul all six of them and then take them home after dinner.   My newest Son-in-law brought the wife over from the house, just a couple of blocks.  Now HAPPY NEW YEAR to every one.
