My Sweet Sweep
« on: May 03, 2007, 01:04:36 PM »
Hope this comes thru.  It is my version of Walter Umland's kit of the "Sweet Sweep".  It went together fairly easy following Walter's instruction.  It is powered with an FP 25.  Has not been flown yet as I just finished putting it together.  Don't ask about weight as it has not been weighed yet.  Balance seems okay with Enya 15 muffler and Power Point 9-5 prop.  It is covered with jacket lining material available from local fabric store.  Sig Light Coat Butyrate Dope.  Now to see if pictures will load.  DOC Holliday

Boy the trouble I have gone thru to get the pictures loaded.  The wife played with the pictures while I was on crossing duty.  Then I had the fun of sown sizing them.  Here I retired from working on one of the biggest computors in the world and have trouble figuring out a PC.  DOC Holliday

Really neat Doc; Covering looks interesting. What is it material wise? Does it go on easy? Heat shrinkable? We have questions-You have answers.

Looks neat Doc.

How about a close up of the engine?

And you do not have to get them real small to post on this site. Just under 1000k will do.

Jim, the material is polyester jacket lining material.

Rootbeard, if the wife is still talking to me I will try for a closeup of the engine.

There's nothing quite as good looking as doped fabric, IMHO.  Doc, how do you like the jacket lining material (usually polyester, I believe) compared with silk or other woven fabric in terms of shrinkage and amount of dope to fill?

Thanks,

Kim:  The fabric is polyester jacket lining material or light weight polyester.  To me the draw is the price, usually less than $2.00 a running yard that is 48 inches wide.  It does take less dope on some.  And some is more porous.  You have to look at it close.

Rootbeard: Hopefully the pictures will load first try.  The extra fuel line on the bottom view is an idea I borrowed from someone on the forum.  It is the overflow for the uni-flo.
