Dare Navion questions...
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:56:22 PM »
I've often wondered while looking at the ads, does the Dare Products Navion kit have landing gear? None of the photos I've ever seen show any, and I've never seen one finished. If it does have gear, is it a trike setup like the real thing, or a "cheater" two wheel taildragger setup? Also, the wing looks a lot like the Ringmaster wing. Is it a thinner airfoil like those older designs, or is it on the thicker side? How thick? If anyone has any pics of a completed one it would be fun to see some.

 Thanks!

I went out and opened my kit just for you. The box photo shows no gear, but the plans show a trike gear. Also, the location of a 2 wheel set-up if you want to go that way. There are a few pieces of wire that are too big to be pushrods included, but I saw nothing pre-bent into gear.
The wing is a pretty thin airfoil and has a less blunt leading edge than a 'Ring. Definitely going to need some speed with this one.
But I like speed!

Oh, and the wood quality is excellent.
