Title: My own actual favorite model airplane
Post by: Bill Little on February 22, 2014, 03:16:20 PM
This may sound strange but my favorite model I have had was my Scientific King Cobra.  My first wood C/L plane I built.  It was BIG at the time.  27" WS, built up wing, profile fuselage.  I did my first wingovers, loops, lazy 8s and inverted with this model.  Actually flew it inverted.  Great stuff for a kid!  Ever present Babe Bee .049 for power.

In the past couple years I have actually picked up two complete kits, one with a split to the canopy.  I intend to build it, finish it in the same colors and fly it very soon.  I will use Spiderwire for lines instead of Dacron.  Might use a different Cox engine, or not.

This will be a quick, easy build and quick to finish but I will make it look a touch better. (like seal the grain, possibly)  Hopefully this will get me back on the "circle".  It is all like starting over for me.

Go for it Big Bear. A couple of years ago I relived my youth by building a box stock Sterling profile Mustang with a Fox 35 like I had in the 60's. It was a very enjoyable build and I love flying it as it brings back so many memories of how simple life use to be.
