The state of the McMinnville circles...
« on: March 16, 2010, 08:13:14 PM »
A few people have asked so I will tell you what I know.. As most of you know our club ( TEAM The Evergreen Aero Modelers) lost our C/L fields last year so The Evergreen Museum could build a water park with a 747 on top of it (I'm not kidding). The good news is that we will be back. We were given some land just East of the museum to build our new circles. Our intentions are to start work this Spring on three new circles (one paved and two grass). Serious work should start as soon as the ground dries out. Our goal over time is to have six circles and a facility worthy of a national event. It is a beautiful location with good access and a good commitment from the club and the museum. I hope to keep you updated as construction progresses.

Thanks,
John

Good news John, I visited the site several times when I went to the Museum, but never got to fly there.

Heck- if you have a big event after the Water Park gets built, maybe they will offer a package deal with a discount so the families of the fliers can play and splash while the fliers pray not to crash!

Hi John; that's great news! I've never flown in McMinnville, but have been to the Evergreen Museum. I've flown at the Eugene Prop Spinners place on several occasions and would like to fly in McMinnville sometime. I have a cousin who lives in McMinnville, he was a photog for your local paper for years and years until he retired last year; Tom Ballard in case his name might be familiar.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Some of my fondest memories are having been to the McMinnville site. Ginny and I spent our 49th Anniversy there. I was there for my 70th birthday.
We attended the last fun fly held there and that's when I got to fly my P-38 for the first time.  Hearing about thew new field is a real Joy!
