My new SV-11
« on: October 31, 2008, 02:21:31 PM »
Heres a new Sv-11  I happned to catch with her pants down today ~^, she was a real lady though and took it all in stride!  Shes ready for base coats(probably white).  All up weight is 49 oz.s right now inc. power train and gear. Gee, I wonder if I can do a finish in less than 10 oz.s? :!  We'll see.

You would have to really pile on the paint to gain 10 oz.  However, it CAN be done if you try.

You'd be surprised at how many people have managed that particular trick!

This will have a nice PA .51 with pipe, metal tank.  This kit came with a cool set of carbon gear and pants.  Oh, and I installed a nice Tom morris style control system.  SMOOTH!!  So I guess the rest of the project is really just there to mess up. Its been the best PA machine project.  Now if I can get my hands on one of those really super cool Brett buck bell cranks for my next build!! #^ y1  Maybe Santa will get me one.

James, contact Randy Powell as he knows how to do simple paint schemes(Just kidding ya Randy).  As some have done is to take a three view and lay out your paint scheme on paper first before mixing the paint.  Anyway it looks good in the picture and send progress pictures as you go.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

I'm not sure how Randy P. comes up with his graphics, but some of us...the unartistic ones...just look for cool looking R/C model planes and cars for ideas. Many of them are professionally designed, I think. The German stuff is generally very striking (see Hobby Lobby's website), but if you look through your Model Aviation and other aviation magazines, you'll find something that's nice. PAMPA's Stunt News is also a good bet, of course!  LL~ Steve

JIM........Just make sure you don't over-do the filler & base coat. AND do the reverse wing over right.......... >:D

The PA-51 will be a killer of an engine.
