Title: My new build starts
Post by: jim gilmore on July 24, 2009, 04:34:49 PM
Here are some photos of my new build. It's a smallish magician, for an 09/.10
I am not using the wing of the magician but the planform will cone out the same.
I have the fuse partially cut the engine mounts trimmed to thickness and my ribs cut and mounted to the jigtubes.

Shoot happens...my build may be postponed in its cmpletion for a periord of time.
My MOM whom is 88 is not doing well. Looks Like I'm heading to NYC. If I do I'll most likely take a field trip to FMP and forest park during my time. Might even have to restart this build in NY.
I'll continue to post here till I know what I'm doing. The adventure that life is is never ending...... #^ ::) n~

I figured out that without wintips I am at 202.5 Sq's and 29" wingspan. I am thinking of building the first ne with squared of wintips and making it have both q weightbox and adjustable leadouts similar to the fancher(SP) twister. I think that with an .09/.10 and a 1 oz tank I should be plenty of run time. What do you all think about the size without tips. ? Is it big enough ?

Here's a photo after 2 day's. I had a problem with the l/e sheeting it cracked in 2 places. Going to leave it as it is for now and see how it hold up. Waiting to see how strong the wing is once all sheeting and cap strips are in place. I will do the center sheeting last.

Sounds like the wood was a little hard or the wrong grain.  Should be long straight lines of grain and kind of soft.  Even then depending on the bend I spray a little water on the outside while attaching the sheet.  The wing is looking great.  DOC Holliday

Thanks, I thought that it would work but I am not real good at picking grain.
