Weeeelllllll----I won't tell you that I flew a Magnum for two years that weighed in at a robust (spell that anvil) 72 ounces with a Merco 61!  It flew better than I did at the time - 1992 & '93 and, as with all heavy ships, there are no small flying errors.  They always compounded to more than small for obvious reasons.
With the aerodynamics of the Magnum I think anything in the lower 60 ounce range would be a really top notch stunter. (60 to 65 oz.)  'Course, I've been wrong before!
What power are you going to use?  I really loved the Merco, and I understand it is out in Oregon now still stunting like crazy!
Blessings,
Will

I've got another Magnum that I'm going to build - you asked what colors ?  - I 'm going to do mine in the same colors that are shown on the box ( which caught my eye )  - you have to mix the colors as Mikey said but anything close will be gorgeous.

Enjoy & Merry CHRISTmas !!!

Hey John,

You got that thing together real fast. Guess you're having a good time with all this building. First, two Vectors and now a Magnum.
I wish I had that kind of motivation.

Cheers, and hope to see you and chat soon.

The Magnum is a fine design, they are big old pussycats to fly! The perfect ship for
an ST .60 engine.

I was going to suggest one mod (too late, it appears), which is to plank the
flaps and elevators with 1/32" balsa. I asked Mike Pratt himself about that mod
and he recommended it.

Your model is very nice!

That plane is gorgeous and I hope she flies as well as she looks.  I won't hold against you if you don't fly competition.  The fellow that got me thru the first stunt pattern didn't fly competition either and he could build and finish planes that easily could have been 20 pointers.  He was a great coach also.  Only seen once since him and his lovely wife moved back to Connecticutt.  Anyway let us know how it flies.  DOC Holliday

Thanks guys, I used a Top Flite panel line pen. Not too many lines, just enough. And I can't take credit for the color scheme, I sort of was inspired by Robert Storick's Viper in the Harley colors. It was just so nice I wanted to do something similar.

And why did you keep it to yourself?  Health issues should be taken care and let your friends know you are having problems.  We can alway lend moral support.  Hope you get to 100% when you fly that gorgeous bird.  Take care,  DOC Holliday

Hey John,

Welcome to the "Not So Good Heart Club". Although not a great club to belong to, we are nice bunch. Looking forward to seeing you at Flushing again. We sure have missed you and had wondered what happened to you. We all figured you were having to much fun with your boat or back working in the Construction Field again making all those millions of dollars.
I personally am looking forward to see you again and between Jose, Neil and myself will lend you whatever hand you need to trim that great looking ship out for great flying.

Glad to hear you're still with us and you're coming back.

Love and kisses,

Bob "Champione" Lampione.

PS: Don't forget that we have the "Joe Ortiz Memorial Stunt Bash" on Sunday September 27 at Flushing Meadows Flying Field. If you need any details feel free to call me. 917-518-0295.

Rotten,
I just flew a friends Magnum the other day and it reminded me of what a good flying design it is. We did a couple of trim  changes to it, but the Tigre 60 droned on!
