This is a Vivell .035 I just completed. I was going to post progress pictures but the picture quality is so bad I gave up, I need a new digcam. Anyway, .035 Cu In, that's an 8-4 prop and it turns it about 6800RPM. The easiest starting and handling diesel (compression ignition) engine I've ever built or owned.

You are amazing!

Thanks all for your kind words. A really enjoy these builds and end up with engines I could never afford to buy even if I could find them.

Great job Randy.
I need to get out in garage and fire up the lathe but it is a little cold and snow on the ground now.

RANDY
Is that a disk valve or reedie? Iron piston? Bronze (or other) bushing for the crank? I would imagine it would be great on a 1/2A Texaco sized SAM bird..?

Outstanding!

Hi Denny,
Its a disc valve, was supposed to be steel but I made it out of Teflon. Cast iron piston, plain parent metal main bearing. There are other diesels that would do a good job too, they will swing enormous props and you can lean them and tweek the compression to the enth degree.

Great job, Randy. Makes my feeble attempts at this hobby seem very inadequate.

Everybody has to start at the beginning, just a matter of how far you wanna push it along. Of course I love engines too, so it makes it a dream come true for me.

Thanks Jason!!! Been a long time. How's your Dad?

It is a good looking engine.

Nice work. How did you hold the wrist pin on such a small engine, pressed in, floating?
MM
Floating wrist pin, radiused and polished ends
