I thought that in stunt you got to pick which landing the judges were to score!

Second round engine quit in horizontal 8. Today in Classic the Humbug bit the dust in the hour glass. DOC Holliday

If you notice the chase car, it is there to help the pilot get the thing down safely. Bicycle landing gear and the tip gear falls off on takeoff. Squirley is hardly enough description. The SR71 was a piece of cake compared to the U2.

Oh no. Sorry to hear about the Humbug!!! ~^ I was looking forward to hearing a flight report. Were you able to fly it enough to get a sense of its potential? I'm curious if it grooves in level flight, or if you have to work to keep it level. Also, was the power sufficient?

I had an RC powered glider type plane called "The Bushwacker" that was similar in appearaance as the U-2. Had to fly it to the runway as other wise it would go clear off the end of the runway. Even tried side slipping which made people nervous. DOC Holliday

Post by: don Burke on March 20, 2009, 05:52:10 PM: I was able to watch U-2s try land at Edwards in the middle summer. They stayed up forever, needed all 15K feet of runway! At EAFB they had Camaro chase cars going alongside on landing to tell the pilot his alitude above the runway.
