My Grandson soloed today!
« on: June 10, 2016, 05:20:39 PM »
Timmy my 9 year old grandson, soled today.  He used his Beginner's Ringmaster.  He flew the Ringmaster in the 2013 Ringmaster Roundup in Iowa.  Him and his family are spending several weeks in Texas and we had the chance to work on his training.  The landing was a bit rough, by Timmy's own words, but he didn't break the prop.

Very cool Christ!!!  I know it was a special kind of satisfaction when my oldest grandson soloed.  I have two more to go in the next few years.  I've set aside a wealth of 'stuff' for them if they stay interested in the sport.  One can only hope- so much to compete with for these kids in terms of things to do and their interests.
Anyway enjoy it!

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Timmy has a great smile like he is having a great time. It is almost like winning the NATS to teach them how to fly. I taught all of my kids to fly on a Cox PT 19 trainer, and four of my grand kids to fly on Sig trainers with Cox .049's. One of them is now a pilot. Now I have a whole bunch more greats to train if my back would just hold out a little longer.

It sounded 'lectric.  Could you post a close-up of the plane somewhere?  (I know -- not the point of the thread.  But still -- curious minds, etc.).
