Both of those were designed around engines like the Fox .15 - without mufflers. Any .09-.15 should fly them pretty well. They are supposed to be Goodyear racers so the wings are on the small side. They make a good trainer, pretty stiff front end and the plank wing survives doinks into the grass pretty well.
.012 X 52' lines work pretty good, and 7X4, 8X3 or 8X4 props on a .15 running a bit rich should keep it managable for training duty.
Since you will eventually have both- you might just have to try a little racing, I've only competed a couple times, but flying 2 or 3 up in a circle is a blast.
