My Dad
« on: February 23, 2014, 12:45:05 PM »
Hi All,

I lost my Dad this morning.  He had been suffering from dementia and lots of other problems lately.  He was a 30 plus year CWO-4 in the NAVY, that had been his life.  I will miss him.

Hi Brother Bill, it's never easy to lose a parent, and I give you my condolences.  For me, the Navy connection makes it even more difficult, so know that I appreciate what your dad did for our country.

Hi Will,

I think we have discussed whether or not you went to school at Millington, TN.  Dad was an Electronics/Avionics instructor there in the early 1960's.  Not sure of the exact dates, but a couple years around 1960.

I am very sorry to hear this Bill. May your dad have fair winds and following seas. He knows what I mean. I lost my dad 9 years ago and still have a tendency to pick up the phone and call him.
Call if you need to talk. H^^

Hi Ty,

Even I know what you mean. ;D  I appreciate the phone offer, you might be hearing from me.

Deepest condolences, Bill.  I lost my dad spring of '01.  He was a WWII combat vet (17th Airborne Div), served USAF through Korea and Vietnam.  Helped me get into the hobby.

I lost Mom 2 days before Thanksgiving this year.  She was blind and in a nursing home 1600 miles away.  I had a flight booked to spend her December birthday with her.  I'm down to a slightly younger sister and 2 cousins now.

My wife lost 3 uncles these past 12 months.  We're going to many more funerals than weddings these days.

Bill, sorry to hear of your loss.   You must have had a long life with him.  I lost my Dad in 62.   It was devastating for me as he was my helper and go to when I needed advice.  He would tell me that when I reach 21 I would really realize how smart he was.  It was so true.   So take care as I know you will see your Dad again one of these days.

Bill-

I'm very sad to hear of your losing your father. Parents are very difficult to lose, and I still think of Dad whenever I see a new challenge. Guys from their era were not just our own special friends, mentors, and protectors, but a special breed from a generation who were extremely self-sufficient, innovative, and often brave and generous. I always think of Dad fondly whenever I use his tools and remember our times together. May you find comfort in remembering your good times together too. 'sincere best wishes.
