Well I had to come up with a way to transport at least 4 stunt ships in my Yukon Denali since I'm planning on attending North Carolina's contest in October.  Seen a few of others peoples storage/transporting racks and this is what I settled on.  It will have to sit diagonally in the back due to the wingspan of the Strega and Shark 45.  I even gained back a rear passenger seat with this setup.  It's very Sturdy and goes from floor to roof in the back of my Denali haha.  Tried to take a pic while in the back but its to dark outside.

That'll work! You probably should add some sort of straps to hold the wing forward/down. I made mine so the horizontal supports tilted and the models tended to shift forward into the rack and not back & out. No, I didn't plan it that way, but it worked sweet. How are you going to keep the rack from rotating on the rear floor? Someone I know has a sheet of plywood on the PU floor and locates the rack with simple wood cleats.  Steve

Back floor is carpeted and with it sitting in the back of the yukon diagonally there really is no where for anything to go to.  I was wondering about lightly strapping them down but I might drive around a bit tomorrow and see how it does.  They cant really move back because the tails hit the inside wall of the yukon if they do.  The rack cant move forward because its up against the back seat and cant move sideways because the wingtips would hit the inside walls of the yukon again.  Can't tip because the cardinal on top is litterally up against the carpeted roof of the yukon.  So pry wont need anything more. We'll see though.

Nice rack Jared wait that doesn't sound right. Nice Carrier, that sounds better. How about some measurements please, this looks perfect for my Escape.

Its a little on the large side, but I did that on purpose since I am hauling larger planes and going 4 planes high.  The base measures 29 1/2" square outside to outside.  Its 37" tall.  As far as the spacing between shelves I just did what I needed for my planes to clear each other while trying to keep them close enough to get 4 high.  I used 1 1/4" PVC for base/hoop/shelves and 1" PVC for support arms.  Then all the T and L fittings and reducers to make it all come together.  I used 3 sticks of the 1 1/4" and 1 stick of the 1" PVC.  If you have slightly smaller planes or only want to go maybe 3 planes high you could make this a lot more compact I think to save a lot more space even.  Especially when you need to store your "carrier."

Those straps across the wings will sure keep all the planes from sliding around. Mine are solid and I kinda drive fast......for a man in a mini-van.

You should consider what will happen to your planes if you have to really stomp on the brakes or if someone bumps you.  I've just been tossing my planes into the back of my truck and driving gently.  That has served me for years, but one idiot driving into me, or making me dynamite the brakes to avoid a crash, will leave my flying stock greatly diminished.

Tim is correct, one our club members has a similar set up and he uses straps over the wings to keep them in place. You should also try and design something to keep the whole unit from bouncing off the inside of the truck. One numb skull pulling out in front of you will convince you of the need for something.

If you drive any distance to contests you will find that even with a rack/stand you will get wear spots on your finish.   I tried the stands and found they take up too much room.  Try putting 19 planes, tool and pit boxes plus your luggage in a big Crysler station wagon.  Melvin, my son and I did that one year going to what once was a great contest in western KS.  It was Pawnee Rock, KS.   Been years since last contest and I miss going out there.
