Mulberry Florida C/L Circle
« on: October 25, 2015, 06:52:40 PM »
With fall and the coming of winter .... lots of snow birds will be heading south.  Wanted to put it out there that this circle is available to you (AMA required). Theres another older gentleman that flies with me about once a month .... otherwise I'm here by myself.  I do 95% of the work on the circle ... and over the last summers worth of heat and rain,  I think I have it in very flyable condition.  I was told that the horse farm has more black mats available ... I'm going to get some more and clean up the takeoff ramp area alittle better.  They are hard to work with though .... extremely heavy, but durable.  The mats in the pictures have been baking in the Florida sun for seven years, and are still in great shape.

Anyway ... anyone looking for a place to fly in Central Florida ... don't hesitate in contacting me.

Hey Dane ... Thanks!  I'm about 2 hours from Titusville .... just recently I met Jim Carter.  I took the ride over to visit him during the Ringmaster Fly-a-thon.  I put up about a dozen flights on a couple of his Ringmasters .... very nice guy!

Uh oh! Aren't you afraid that thousands of
frosted Snowbirds are about to descend from
the frozen wastes?

That's a very nice invitation Larry and the
circle looks great!

I have a few questions.

Noise. Would an IC powered plane with the
usual tongue muffler be welcome?
Nothing too loud but your tenure might be
tenuous, so I'd worry.
I found the R/C field on Google Earth. Maybe the
neighbors are used to airplanes?

Hours.  What time is the circle open?
Trying to catch the good morning air.

Insurance.   AMA and MAAC  memberships
are equivalent and reciprocal across North
America and in all FAI sanctioned countries.
I'm just checking that MAAC membership
would be accepted at your field?

Larry, Thanks again for your thoughtful
invitation.

Cheers!
Keith Morgan

Hello Keith!

I did recieve your PM and will get to a response .... but be aware that there is a 2 PM-limit per hour here @ SH.  If it becomes an issue, just email me.  (Address under my profile)

Noise --
Any type of muffler is acceptable.  I've even flown my share of un-muffled McCoys and Fox's. The field hosts alot of guys with BIG gas airplanes.  These are VERY loud .... so alittle noise coming from the corner of the field where the circle is, isn't an issue.  Electric ducted fan jets also fly here.

Insurance --
As long as you have a valid AMA, your good to go.  The club offers 3 visitations before 'suggesting' a membership.  There are special rates for snow birds.

Flying times --
Literally .... dawn to dusk. There are no residential neighbors any where near the field.  Our neighbors are all businesses whom we have good relations with. My flying times are 7:00AM till I get too hot, or run out of fuel .... whichever comes first. :)

Based on your PM and where you are coming from .... there is a group of guys on a beautiful circle thats alot closer to you. I'll provide you with that info ..... certainly not trying to push you away, but I do want to provide you with all the options available.

Talk soon, Larry

Mulberry is just south of Lakeland.  I live in South Lakeland and the field/circle is 13 minutes away.  Depends on which part of Auburndale, but I would gather 30 minutes

I believe you and I have spoken before Steve, back when I was flying a few months in Orlando .... you bought a place up off of 92?
