Ah, those names... KeilKraft Gazelle and Spectre, Mercury Marvin and a host of other C/L aerobatic designs for smallish diesels - we built and flew them all with our AM15s and 25s in 1960 when we were in our mid-teens!  Dave himself, one of the biggest names in British aeromodelling, must have been only 25 then - and it was no surprise to us when he followed that other big name, Bill Dean, to the greener pastures of the USA, where we all dreamed of going in the hope of rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bob Palmer and George Aldrich.  I join with others in wishing him a speedy recovery.

You can not be any kind of model airplane enthusiast and not have heard of Dave Platt!! He has built, flown and published just about every kind of model airplane. He was on the team that built and flew the R/C models that were used in the movie "The Battle of Britain." He came into prominence for most people after he entered his Douglas Dauntless in scale competition at a mid 1960s NATS, which is currently residing at the Smithsonian and set the bar for realism and authenticity pretty dog gone high!! And I believe he's also another great model enthusiast that is also a great guitar player??? Get well and heal fast Dave!!

  Long time fan,

Dave Platt is the definition of a pure Master Modeler, one of my all-time top modeling idols. Hoping he gets well soon.

Dave Platt, what a gentleman.  I was/have been privileged to meet him at past Nationals and talk with him.   Tell him to take care and follow doctors orders.    D>K
