Magnum 52 Stunt specials
« on: April 30, 2019, 01:21:31 AM »
Just gauging interest:

How many people would be interested in purchasing Magnum 52's built with a stunt timed ABC set fitted with venturi, NVA and a lightweight muffler?

The port timing and layout would be something similar to what I do for the ST51.

I can't give a price yet as I haven't priced it up.

Just seeing if there is enough interest to head down the road of developing it.

Is Magnum still renowned for crap bearings?

I recall I reworked some back 15 years ago and the bearings were pretty poor. So they've not improved?

Don't forget the Boca bearings.

I have a Magnum 36 XLS that runs very well.  I have not noticed any roughness or other problem with the bearings.  I don't have that much run time on it, only flying the plane in Classic at some contests.    Maybe bearing replacement will be necessary soon.

On another engine, an ASP 46, the front bearing felt rough and gritty after some break-in on the bench.   A local bearing supplier had them so replacement was not a problem.  I guess it is hit and miss with the Magnum/ASP engines regarding bearing quality.
