Saying hi new to forum and pics of my planes
« on: March 20, 2020, 10:55:49 AM »
Here's a few pics of my flyers I have built over the past 4 years.  Look forward to learning more and flying better.

There is a wealth of awesome info on here, glad I came by this forum.

Currently building VPMA flight streak at the moment, really cool looking plane.

If anyone finds their selves around Calgary shoot me a note.

Hoping to make the maiden flight on the skyray this summer.  Should be different than what I'm used two. So far the 1/2a zero is my favorite flyer.  Wow does it rip and turn nice. The old combat Cat I fixed up is pretty sketchy.  But is fun in the wind, needs a bit more engine offset the washers have sunk into the wood over the years and a few wrecks haven't improved that situation either.

Cheers.

Thanks Tom.

I'm out of Alberta, Canada.

I'm also working on an electric combat kitten. First electric for me, couldn't help my curiosity.

Thanks Brad. Cool, I'll shoot you a note.

Hey Derek,

Good to see you here. Hope you are building/fixing plenty for the summer!  If you are anywhere near Edmonton, you might try hooking up with Les Akre.

Welcome Derek, and kudos on the planes!

I like the colors & trim on the Skyray, what Zero design is that?  Looks like generous wing area, should fly really well.

Welcome Derek !

You have lots of friends you haven't
met yet.

If you're ever flying into T.O. the Balsa Beaver's
circle is under your left wing.
You will be very welcome.

Cheers! - K.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Cool I do know Bryan and Warren. Was able to get out with Bryan once last year.  Funny met Warren by chance a number of years ago well my wife did 1st. He came to switch out our gas meter and noticed some super dusty RC planes in the furnace room then chatted about how that was cheating with her and that CL was where it was at.  She laughed and pointed to an old plastic cox plane with strings. Then she was corned into a long conversation about something she had minimal interest in lol. Warren left his number. Upto that point I was not active in the hobby for probably 15yrs.  But my wife's description of how excited Warren got that I had some CL stuff restarted my interest. Bryan and Warren have been super helpful, learned a lot from them and still am.

Hi Dennis, the zero is a Brodak kit. I believe the wing is 24"s. It flys amazingly well. I modified it to take a beam mount.  The wood in the kit was in credibly light too.

I am hoping to make it to one of the Edmonton events this year now that the kids are a bit older.  Look forward to meeting in person.
