Title: motor mounts
Post by: Bootlegger on December 13, 2013, 09:21:08 AM

Guy's I am looking to install an R/C type mount on an ARF, and was thinking about seperete type mounts so that I can adjust them for the engine width.

Does any body have a suggestion as to where I can get this type of mount?
P.S.  I would prefer carbon fiber or alum mounts..
 Thanks for looking...

If you're not in a hurry, I will dig through my stuff, I might have that mount in aluminum.

Guy's I am looking to install an R/C type mount on an ARF, and was thinking about separate type mounts so that I can adjust them for the engine width. Does any body have a suggestion as to where I can get this type of mount? P.S.  I would prefer carbon fiber or alum mounts.. Thanks for looking...
Sig has R/C type mounts that are two separate beams, but they are fiberglass reinforced, not carbon fiber. I bought the smaller set while from a hobby store out of town. This is what they look like:

They come with all the hardware, but the 6-32 engine mount screws may be too large, you may have to swap those out for 4-40 hardware. I looked at it as though receiving a spare set of 6-32's.  :)

I have never used either but  I would take a close look at these. once thought of using this type on a radial mount profile.
Appears as if you could easily change a 40 t0 60 with the fiberglass mount.

As long as you remember to rebalance the airplane.   Go look at Ted Fancher's  "Imitation" I think it was called.   Used radial/firewall mounts, it I remember right.  You  know old age is creeping in when you can't recognize the image in the mirror. LL~

I have some of these that I will never use. They are still attached to the plywood firewall. They seem to be undamaged. They are yours for cost of postage. They seem to be drilled for OS LA/FP spacing.

Their catalog says that those screws are for mounting the things the firewall; you're supposed to supply the screws yourself.
