Motivation to build

I have to admit that I'm one of those people who struggles at time to find the necessary motivation to get into the shop at night and build.  This past weekend at the Paducah contest (sadly the final contest) I found my motivation to get back in the build room.  The ground always wins

That looks bad.  You did save all the pieces, right?   I have one that is in final finish stage but physical problems have kept me out of shop.  Now have to wear back brace to use riding mower and canes also.

It is always sad to see one our works of passion get broken but I want you to look at the damage to the wing.  I have had two "close encounters of the asphalt kind" with my electrics and both times the nose pulverized and the wing survived virtually undamaged.  Please fix this one.  It is too pretty to sit in a corner.

James.      I have rebuilt a few like that.  Here is big time saver.    When taking the old body off the wing do not cut it off down at the planking. Cut it 1/8” above the planking all around the wing. Cut the new body sides wing opening 1/8 larger. This is vey easy and if you put the wing in from the bottom and it is fast.

That is why I have built combat wings lately and sport stunt.   No pattern, just loops and eights.  By the way I do have a profile scale plane I would like to get to and my profile carrier with RC throttle control is good so I can slow it down.

As we discussed last week, the flying surfaces do look like you can put them in a new fuselage.  If it were me I would do that.  Plus make a back up just in case.  But the wing and tail did look quite solid.  Still interesting that I found the motor a good 20 yards in front of the wreckage.  You are lucky it went in on soft dirt.  Otherwise the flying surfaces would not be salvageable.   That big divot you put in the ground probably saved the flying surfaces.

I think the wing will be okay, the stab is broken.  The motor and spinner actually came out unscathed, I'm glad you found it.  After the Team Trials I'll get back to the new Triumph and get it finished.

We picked up as many pieces as we could.  The parts are in a bag in the garage at the moment.

Thanks Tom.  Ironically I was trying to decide if I wanted to refinish it or not, the decision is prettty easy now  .
