Title: Morris Printed Electric Motor Mounts
Post by: Ken Culbertson on May 31, 2023, 11:45:26 PM
If any of you are using the Morris/Okie printed motor mounts, Please check them periodically.  I just had one that literally got bent out of shape by vibration.  I suspect that the motor got hot enough to soften the mount then the vibration stretched the holes.  Luckily I caught it.  These little motors put out a tremendous amount of torque and "they will bite you" if allowed to become loose.   I fixed it by adding a plywood cap.  If I use one of these again on a full body it will have reinforcement.

LL~ I understand the Chinese are making them using calligraphy but they are not reinforced and have a 24mm hole pattern.

I reversed engineered (well had my son the CAD guy) the Okie Air mount. I did away with the entire center section and put in slots for the aluminum mount that comes with the motor. I think this allows for better cooling and the aluminum will dissipate the heat better and will not distort.

I am having a hard time picturing that but I think it is a good idea.  Do you have a picture?

I love it.  Is that the 28xx or 35xx mounting plate?

That’s a 28x. But I scale it in the slicer program to fit what ever spinner.
